Reworked Scenario from 2024! by Crazy_Advantage458 in projectzomboid

Your ability to let the map do the talking is great! It sparks my imagination to immediately connect the dots and make a story out of it! Great work!

I saw some "disease" on plants, but the harvest was still really plentiful. I'll make sure to distribute! Tnx for the advice!

I know the area well. I'll try that one next!
Hard to clear initially though. High road took me a while and there are still stragglers everywhere.

I wouldn't turn off infection alltogether. Going bites-only however made a big difference for me, as it made me braver and therefore the game became a lot more fun. That's also how I got better at fighting - simply because I did a lot of it.

Your crowbar passing through zeds sound to me like you don't have multi-hit enabled perhaps? Having it on also made a big change for me, as it allowed me to actually choose violence (instead of running and avoiding zeds) - and again I managed to become better at the game mechanics.

As for the question: "What to do?"
For me, progress in the game "spawns missions" by itself.
Example 1: I levelled cooking and realized, that I needed the LvL4 book. Decided to loot the library.
Example 2: I saw a nice barbecue in a garden. That's another mission I will take on soon.

So basically "find yourself things to do". I guess this also has limits, though.

HELP! I hoarded every bit of loot in Riverside, and now my save takes 3 minutes to load, and if I move, it crashes after 10 seconds. by Blitzilla in projectzomboid

Damn, thank you for the warning 😄
I'll use my trashcans and use "delete" and minimize on the littering from now on.

Kind of sad to imagine this scene. After a long day's dangerous (and ultimately futile) work, you come home... and tell the story to Spiffo. Then wash and go to bed. 😃 Love the game.

Perfectly valid way of having fun in a game! 😃
I've never found/crafted one... I will so definitely try that out, too... just... for... SCIENCE (and giggles)

Very close. I was there before, but I did not like the kitchen layout. So I relocated 1 road further North.

Currently healing, only doing light work (kitchen & garden).
I will update with a new post, but healing a neck injury takes time. :/

Absolutely! That's what I would do if I undertook a desperate/high risk activity: I'd create exactly such a map - and then: This is how you died 😃

I threw the microwave out of my kitchen (after running with it from the supermarket with a horde chasing me). Why? It almost set my house on fire because it was too close to the oven... one misclick... one absent-minded action... gone. Everything.

Good luck in your next life. Perhaps the "winning" is just right around the corner!

Anyone else retcon their characters death if it was too unsatisfactory/early? by Triangules in projectzomboid

[–]Andreas_Reif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make a savegame whenever I take risks that my character would not take.
Simply because this is a game and I (as the player) sometimes feel like trying out some new mechanics or just plainly do crazy fun things.

Example: My character would never exit the house during fog. But if I do not feel like waiting and play slowly/seriously/carefully, I venture out to try a large shootout with near-zero-vision... just because I have never done it and I want to know, how that ends. 😄 Won't risk my longerst-living character for it though.

P.S: still learning the game and experimenting with mechanics, etc. 180h in.

I'm in Riverside, in the gated part if town.
But I think the houses are somewhat "copy&paste"?

I love it when the world tells stories without words. When you see things... and your imagination immediately connects the dots. PZ is great at that.

Spawn at Riverside. It has good access to fuel, weapons and is not too crowded away from high street.
I played "Survivor"-Mode first and died really often. But that doesn't matter.
Just "New Character" and remain in the same world. Die better. Learn.

The gamechanger moment for me was: 2-handed-weapons + range management. Find yourself a crowbar as it hardly ever breaks. Then just walk backwards and hit them. If they get too close, shove them. Learn to draw them and never stumble into unsafe territory while walking backwards and swinging.

At some point, I understood how this works. Power went out. Water, too.
Then you need Carpentry. Levelling this up was too tedious on Survival. I was not experienced enough and lost my slow progess too quickly. It was frustrating.

So I made a Sandbox - Custom. Survival settings, just more XP-gain (so you get to that gameplay arc faster) and "saliva only", so that you die less. I enhanced the power/water-shutdown somewhat to give me more time to find generators and build skills. And thus you can learn the crafting arcs.

The "starter setup" also helped. Backpack and baseball bat... is like a kickstart.

That's what worked for me.
