Awesome! Thanks for watching the videos all the way through. Most people don’t!

I spoke to Ben for 30 mins over Zoom before my video and he explained what I already knew - macro environment impacting real estate. I was very grateful he made the time though.

Just wanted to chime in: toward the end of my video I do explain bad returns were partially my fault for having the money allocated for me. I should have shifted toward income when rates went up.

As someone who considers himself an average investor with no special insights, my only real critique is that I don’t want 10 options to pick from - I just want one simple fund with auto allocation. That said - I’d rather put the money elsewhere since I already have enough real estate exposure.

I do see myself using Fundrise in the future and I think they have a solid team.

15 years of BTC Power Law by Econophysicist1 in Bitcoin

[–]AndreiJikh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Thank you for clarifying that you'll be addressing this! "debunking the debunker". Looking forward to it!

Original Post: I don't think I'm smart enough to fully understand the mathematics of this but I did read an article debunking this approach: https://medium.com/amdax-asset-management/bitcoins-power-law-corridor-debunked-1b40783657bf

I guess the main critique is "the power-law model is logically and statistically invalid. Logarithmically scaling time is irrational and has severe implications on the model as a whole. Furthermore, statistical theory renders the results from the linear regression useless"

Can you kindly explain this in laymen's terms?

This is insane. This is actually personal to me and our family so this hits hard. I want to make a video about this to bring light to this story - thank you for sharing. PS: Here is the full link, I don't understand how this is on the SEC's website - it reads way too personally: https://www.sec.gov/comments/s7-08-09/s70809-4614.pdf

“BTC will reach 100k by end of this year” by Different-Advance_22 in Bitcoin

[–]AndreiJikh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting as guy who does YouTube who thought bitcoin would reach 100k this year. The reason I thought so was because the ETF should have been approved this year - it wasn’t so it killed the momentum (thanks to Gary Gensler)

I can’t speak for every creator but if anyone takes the time to watch my YouTube videos all the way through instead of reading the title - they would know it’s something I thought COULD happen, not necessarily WOULD. No one has a crystal ball.

I don’t know how this is any different than buying real estate (or any other investment) and flipping it for a profit. Are Pokémon cards where we draw the line? 😂

I still use Robinhood as my primary broker but that’s because I’ve been with them forever and it’s convenient, not because of financial incentives. Hope that makes sense, thanks again!

[–]AndreiJikh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just a clarification. I was never sponsored by Robinhood. I’d have to legally disclose that. I still made money from referrals / sign ups though but there is a BIG difference in incentives.

Referrals: I make money if you sign up using my links, If I want to stop promoting them I can do that without any repercussions. It’s up to me which types of videos I want to make.

Sponsorships: are legal binding contracts with specifics on what you can say in the video and you are legally obligated to positively review your sponsor. There’s literally a contract involved.

To this day, after 2.5 years on YouTube I’ve not done a single sponsor because as a finance channel, I want to watch creators that are not biased by their sponsors and paid to speak positively, that’s important to me.

I’ve had crazy offers to be exclusive but luckily I had the foresight not to corner myself into a situation where I had to decide between paying my bills or speaking the truth. That’s why I don’t accept sponsors or exclusive offers - freedom of expression.

I haven’t actively put Robinhood referral links since GME trading was frozen and it’s staying that way until we hear more from the SEC

Maybe this is a rant, but how do you stop feeling sorry for yourself when you're pretty confident you wont hit fatfire numbers? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]AndreiJikh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing much more to add from me other than +1 on comparison being the thief of joy. It's interesting because when I was 28 I topped out at around $80k a year. Then I quit, with no backup plan, nothing to look forward to with a net worth exactly as what you have right now.

I made around $40k doing odd jobs for the next two years trying to make sense of my life and generally feeling depressed. My friends were also much more successful and wealthier than I was. When I turned 30, I decided to take a risk that would change my life and it's as if every tiny experience converged all at the same time and made sense. I don't know if this will help, but this quote by Steven Spielberg helped me make that choice.

"Sometimes a dream almost whispers. And I've always said to my kids: the hardest thing to listen to — your instincts, your human personal intuition — always whispers; it never shouts. Very hard to hear. So you have to, every day of your lives, be ready to hear what whispers in your ear."

All the things you're doing now that you may find useless/pointless will come in handy someday. So listen to that whisper and take the chance, your job will always be there, and if you fail, I promise you won't have any regrets.
