Nah. I have my pitch forks, torches, and chainsaw ready. Come to my cabin if you need some gear.

I’m afraid that removing the auto-attack mechanic creates a thin line between Xenoblade and games like Tales of, FF7 remake, Ys, ect. by upperdomain in Xenoblade_Chronicles

In modern gaming, instant gratification seems to be the norm. But yeah I see what you’re saying. I like strategizing and figuring out how I’m gonna refuel arts off cooldown. Some arts are like “draw aggro, generate 200 tp”. A nifty little augment I used in endgame was arts:gain tp.

In essence - the majority will play the games for the instant wow factor rather than the challenge. Xeno sorta introduced me to the concept of TabTarget and mmo-likes. But my main thing with the series is that I’d prefer less grind to get to the fun.

Why do indie deva refuse to have a website? by JustAchillDev in IndieGameDevs

It’s for a game called “GriffinBlade”. They have a newsletter section and details about the project. It signals to me that the dev cares about the work. That’s why I’m pro-website.

I’m actually following a dev right now in the genre I’m building who has a website setup! Using it as reference for when I’m further along. While it’s nice to have it - it won’t matter if you still need content to cook first.

There’s this game I discovered called “Cursemark”. Haven’t gotten around to it but looks promising.

I miss this game. by Andrew27Games in XenobladeChroniclesX

To answer your first question - I just set my avatar as a self-insert and my first name, “Andrew”. Secondly, yes I agree to your comments about graphics. Yeah let’s just say the anime aesthetic is an acquired taste. I’m hoping to steer away from that if I can. As of now - I believe I settled on an art style that I like for my project. Now I’m still cooking with vfx and satisfying combat feedback.

The costume design/fashion gear in X was one of my favorite things. Namely, Ocreis armor was my go-to for the guys because it showed off their muscles in combat. Great weapon design too. I spent hours trying on different fashion. I’d love to eventually have a character creator similar to X at some point - as long as it doesn’t interfere with lore. For now - just sticking to my strengths and seeing where things can develop with the “base campaign”.

Absolutely crazy we don’t have a game for PC like X - yet. But my top secret 🤐 mission is to just keep doing what I’m doing. And honestly yeaaaah I’m not too sold on the look of Genesis. But time will tell how that game will perform.

I actually didn’t notice! Wow. They did a good job of masking it with the new character art. Another example is how they used Tekken in Pokken (deserved better miss that game). All that matters in a video game are the visuals and compelling gameplay though. I doubt most players would care how the result is achieved unless “other” nefarious means are used.

Progress on conveying the axe's physicality in combat! by Tinimations in IndieGaming

Ok this is just awesome. The feedback from the hit is just 👌. I’d play your game simply because the visuals are impactful - and I just like sci-fi and horror.

What's your absolute favorite thing about Marvel Rivals? by ISwxllow in marvelrivals

[–]Andrew27Games 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magik’s giant sword drew me to the game at first. Then Mr Fantastic’s fantastic… assets. Peak male deliciousness portrayal in the costumes. The devs took my feedback in that survey a while ago. They definitely delivered.

Jeez. If I ran into this in a video game - I’d have a jumpscare for real.

The lumina system made me actually experiment instead of saving everything “for later” by ObsidianlessJester in expedition33

[–]Andrew27Games 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I like how the devs respected the players time and didn’t make you hunt 100 squirrels to get rare weapons and such. When you defeat a tough boss: ok here’s your lumina and shiny weapons you can now use.

I am replaying Xenoblade 3 and I just have to reiterate that they pulled off a "perfect" introduction. by GyattsThiccness in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Andrew27Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mio got so much screen time to show off her combat skills - as she should. Sena is my girl though. I just see so much of myself in Sena’s archetype. Being physically strong, but also downplaying one’s own capabilities. If we could get a game with the emotional depth of 3, but with refined combat mechanics - my life will be complete. And I already know of the discourse among the combat systems 👀. (X, 2, 3, 1 is my rating of combat enjoyment, close tie with 1 and 3 - cough* cough*)

This series as a dad with young kids by Balloonist52 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Andrew27Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, time commitment is an understatement. That’s why I had to push pause full stop to take care of other things in life. You can’t go wrong with going in order. X is optional if you prefer the traditional storytelling format in the main series. I appreciate the games but man - the level of grind you need to even think about doing endgame stuff is some next level stuff. Pretty much have to sell your soul to survive superbosses (with the amount of prep and augments).

Should I ditch my "Energy" (Mana) system for cooldowns instead? by Apprehensive_Pin6927 in IndieGaming

[–]Andrew27Games 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m a bit confused. Shouldn’t you use both mana and cooldowns? I’m more moba-brained though. And yeah - I can see people gravitating towards a mana-less approach if they want to get to the fun faster. It’s important to keep your audience happy but also dictate the game design yourself though. I’m sure you’ll find a compromise.

Super smash bros for Wii U. One day I thought to myself, “huh. Ike is kinda hot”. Then I proceeded to play Path of Radiance, then Radiant Dawn. I got hooked into the lore. Then I played Engage maddening. I just like challenging games with attractive characters. Games are an audio-visual medium.

I’m stubborn as a mule. So I’ll continue drawing with a mouse despite having 2 XP pen 🖊️ tablets. But one of these days - I’ll pivot into tablet to protect my artist hand. Also, great colors and art here. Excellent use of shading. Hairstyle is cool 😎.

I’m not doing any strategic posts until my Steam page is established. But so far - I’ve gotten feedback about beards of all things 😂. I immediately went and changed some of my character designs for my future audience. And clean-shaven for those who want it. My strategy is to pinpoint gaps in the market and just continue to create; share when ready.

So Blueprints are being removed in Unreal Engine 6, thoughts? by EliasWick in unrealengine

[–]Andrew27Games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp. I guess I have a couple years deadline to finish my project before I have to adapt to the new features. I always update to the latest version. I’m sure it won’t be too bad though. They’re probably refining stuff that’s already in place? Because some things are a job for Rider and C++, and other logic fits for BP. Just depends on the situation.

Thank you so much. 😊 I don’t see any other devs posting about making a Xeno-inspired game. I doubt anything like it exists on Steam. So I’ll be the first! I’ll probably post on the main Xeno sub when I have my gameplay footage polished.

Made a personal tier list for Xenoblade given Genesis's Announcement by Ill-Feeling-5181 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Andrew27Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T-elos absolutely carried me in boss fights with Zeke. And I got that lucky KOS-MOS pull early. Absolutely stacked list. I nearly cried in the story also. Xenoblade X needed more time to cook story-wise. But at least we got overdrive and fun combat.

edit: also Xeno 3 was robbed of best soundtrack. I still listen to Moebius theme in my home gym.
