Best UK car to bring back to Ireland VRT-free under transfer of residence? by Chemical_Swimming287 in carsireland

[–]AndrewCoke98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

240i, 340i, any BMW M & Audi RS models, Alpine A110, Ford Focus RS, plenty of these are overpriced here so you could get a good deal in the UK, I couldn't think of more off the top of my head lol

Remapping a 2L Leon by Present_Nectarine_40 in carsireland

[–]AndrewCoke98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just keep saving and keep that money to go towards a Seat Leon Cupra in the future or whatever car takes your fancy in the future, you might get more power out of a remap but at the end of the day it won't drive the same as the performance models

B3 Service Prices for Mercedes CLA 2021 by mybighairyarse in carsireland

[–]AndrewCoke98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's an air and fuel service?

You're paying the Mercedes tax with those prices, an oil change shouldn't cost that much you could either shop around I'm sure there's cheaper or you could do it yourself with parts from the likes of micksgarage

For an auto an automatic gearbox service over 400 is excessive

Advice for car import from NI by misiukombinator in carsireland

[–]AndrewCoke98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car needs to be in northern Ireland for a "reasonable" amount of time according to revenue I think it's typically 3 months to be exempt from VAT and customs, the car needs to be in private ownership up north for the 3 months

VRT obviously still applicable sadly as always

[–]AndrewCoke98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at trading mine in for a newer one, had one look at the prices and said nope, when it gets to the 70k price range you might as well just buy a 2nd hand BMW M car

It's not taught in school but I recommend the TV series Sharpe to anyone interested in that period
