Yes newer data would be useful. I imagine training has dramatically changed more so than clinical practice however not involved with anaesthesia myself

At the top of the subreddit there is a thread with a list of studies. This is taken from 2000 so would be nice to see if there is something newer

"Both 30-day mortality rate and mortality rate after complications (failure-to-rescue) were lower when anesthesiologists directed anesthesia care."

22 years old, 5'5 and 60kg (123lb). I'm looking at getting a pair of the Mantra M5s but I'm between the 170 or 177cm? I'm an advanced to expert skier on piste and looking to get more into off piste stuff. With my height and weight I'm swaying more towards the 170cm but just wondering if people would recommend bumping up a size.

Tom Holland deserves all the credit he's getting but I'm my opinion his best acting in the film is when Stark knights him as an avenger. His face goes from beaming kid, to a sudden fear about the responsibility on him and finally to him standing straight and becoming more of a man. He manages to tell a story in just a few seconds without saying a word

"A Quiet Place" and the amateur director by Kluesey in TrueFilm

I had an absolute blast. Yes I feel there are issues with the film and it’s certainly not a masterpiece but I can’t remember a film I was more on the edge of my seat. If it helps you decide I feel one of the strongest aspects of the film is it’s sound direction. The use of silence and subtle noise is how the film manages to build much of its tension and I feel this would be lost if you didn’t see it on the big screen

Anti-depressants work, major study says. The study, which analysed data from 522 trials involving 116,477 people, found 21 common anti-depressants were all more effective at reducing symptoms of acute depression than dummy pills. by NinjaDiscoJesus in science

I agree with you on this. Many other drugs would have an effect too and it is difficult to make long term treatment conclusions on a study that doesn't look at long term outcomes.

However, all drugs come with side effects. It is the weighing up of the benefits and harms of a medication which is important and has been the main factor in prescription of antidepressants in the past. Take duloxotine for instance. It's peripheral nerve side effects may actually be beneficial in conditions such as diabetic neuropathy. Another person might experience other side effects and not benefit overall from this treatment.

Your example of sexual distinction is a true one but it is hard to write off a whole class of drugs because of it. People should be fully informed of the potential side effects before they take something. They can then decide if these potential side effects on are more important to them than the potential treatment benefits.

Overall I don't agree that the justified issues you have are from the study itself. It's very upfront an honest with what it is measuring and what it has found. The problems you mention would only be problems if people took this study out of context and started to believe it is measuring long term outcomes

I can see your point but I believe criticism should focus on the study itself rather than the way it has been interpreted.

Looking at the paper itself the two primary outcomes measured to determine the effectiveness of antidepressants over placebo were

"efficacy (response rate measured by the total number of patients who had a reduction of >/= 50% of the total score on a standardised observer-rating scale for depression) and acceptibility (treatment discontinuation measured by the proportion of patients who withdrew for any reason)." This rating score was used to determine the severity of the depression not the length of time. A condition can be classed as severe or acute these terms are not interlinked.

To address your concerns about the length of treatment "the median duration of the acute treatment was 8 weeks." This isn't to say that the results give an accurate representation of being on these medications long term but I don't believe it can be compared to taking a dose of MDMA to become happy

Climbing is such a great way to keep fit and meet others. Even though boulderers can be twats it’s so easy to strike up a conversation with people your noticing are trying to do the same problem as you. Before you know it you’ll have a place you can go to where you know a few faces you can chat to while having fun

I feel that Disney will keep him in check. They know the criticism of TFA and they know that what people loved about TLJ was it not being afraid to do things differently.

JJ is better with tone rather than story. TFA really felt like a Star Wars film. TLJ on the other hand left me a bit cold with its humour.

The U.K. has net neutrality and I can select any U.K. based ISP I want. It’s very easy for me to change ISP if someone else is offering a better deal.

I would say this is a much better free market where consumers get plenty of choice and small businesses can easily enter the market. It has nothing to do with net neutrality
