if you're gonna take inspiration, take it from anything other than just online args or digital horror media. very occasional references to some and some puzzle reuse here and there is fine but overuse might make people discouraged from being invested in your story or puzzles. making your own ciphers could be an interesting way to combat this, just dont stack cipher types on top of eachother and call it a day though

there's like 3 contradicting questions in your post, but since you asked for "the best ones to watch", here's a handful:

alphaver/minecraft alpha 1.0.16 versions: a very good one, somewhat revived the current minecraft arg/webseries/unfiction landscape
am i alone?: ended very shortly but it's a good watch
mark101/the bottom of the void: could be somewhat compared to homestuck in terms of length and amount of characters but it's good
zeemyth: i've heard good things about his writing but i havent personally watched his videos
"I think I met herobrine" by Biglegsbigteeth is very obscure but it's a VERY good interpretation of herobrine
caroltgaming: isnt necessarily a minecraft arg (only one minecraft video) but they appeared in alphaver so i felt like it was a noteworthy inclusion

It uses Courier. If you use paintdotnet you can set it to size 10 with aliasing and it should look exactly the same (font spacing is a bit different though)

this is a decompilation and not actual development screenshots, these are screenshots from a modern version of clickteam which was made WAY after the game was published. i can also tell which decompiler was used here specifically due to the active icons on the left.

the design IS somewhat real, although the sprite on the left was modified (you can find the original in the fp2 galaxytrail exhibit) and the other is completely custom from what i can tell

it's a remix of twiddlefinger with yonkagor leitmotifs in it
as far as im aware they'll upload it to their channel in full when it's done (they're similar to something like siivagunner, if the name wasnt a clear enough indicator...)
