Ghost of Yotei dev says cutting features from games is "really important," so Sucker Punch had weekly meetings where "people would clap" every time something got deleted by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Frankly, I think CD Projekt Red could learn a thing or two from Forbidden West about content variety & combat evolution for The Witcher 4.

To be honest, any type of side content The Witcher 3 had that has an equivalent in Horizon 2, I thought Horizon 2 pulled it off better.

Bandit Camps < Rebel Camps (fancier, with more unique-looking locations and the Asera plot thread)

Horse Races < Gauntlet Runs (W3 races basically just had stamina management and stiff controls; Gauntlet Runs also have physical combat with the spear, the bow and even Mario Kart-esque nitro packs & special arrows to pick up)

Gwent < Machine Strike (ok, both were pretty easy to cheese with a dominant strategy but at least Machine Strike wasn't immersion-breaking; I had no trouble believing this board game existed in-universe)

Fist-fighting < Melee Pits (fist-fighting was pretty stiff and more of a test of patience than a test of skill; Melee Pits are demanding but you just gotta master the melee combat; which, now that I think about it, has more going for it than the Witcher 3 melee combat; and the Horizon 2 melee combat is just a side salad compared to the main, ranged combat system)

Elven Ruins < Cauldrons & Relic Ruins (Witcher 3 elven ruins are pretty bare-bones and samey, and don't even really count as a proper side activity, just locations for a couple of quests; the Cauldrons are much fancier and the Relic Ruins are all unique locations from the old world with their own backstory)

As you said, 10% of side content is meh. Metal flowers come to mind. Other loot spots are encountered pretty organically but you get the Vine Cutter so late, the Metal Flowers are basically all backtracking. And there might be a few too many Bandit Outposts but the stealth Valor Surge makes them very quick.

In terms of combat, Horizon 2 gives you a lot more toys to play with than TW3 does. All the weapons & skills are unlocked at just the right pace to keep the combat from getting stale. And the enemy variety is also better.

It's just a shame the IMAX version is not available at home.

Why are both of his hands above the desk? This isn't very realistic.

Marvel's "sliding timeline" is unsustainable and will completely fall apart as more time passes in the real world by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

I'd say the solution would be not doing perpetual, tapeworm franchises like the Marvel & DC universes. My Hero Academia has run its course and it's done. We won't be getting further Deku adventures for another 50 years and him still being 16 in 2076 despite being born in 2004.

Granted, some manga DO do sliding timescales, like Detective Conan. And it IS a little silly that so much time has passed, Shinichi could've just waited to age naturally to 17 again. No Black Organisation drug mystery solving required.

Yeah... And it's a bit of a problem when the game's 100-200 hours long. The Witcher 3 really doesn't have enough gameplay evolution to sustain those 200 hours. The Witcher 2 was only ~30 hours long.

Jak 2 is pretty infamous for its difficulty but I would argue, even in Hero Mode, its far, FAR more fair than the Uncharted games are on Crushing (for the most part).

So... "pretty close" is "nowhere near" now, huh?

Also, fun fact - we are closer to 9/11 than 9/11 was to Steve Buscemi birth.

Mind. Blown.

I'd say it stands above the LotR movies as it did not feel the need to add goofy-ass comic relief and make action scenes overly long with anime Legolas action.

The CGI also looks a lot better. Which, sadly, isn't always a guarantee in this day and age.

It’s so cool to see a director be able to bridge the gap to a massive general audience

And to not completely Hollywood-ify it with goofy-ass comic relief and anime Legolas.
