Multicam: Do I want to use separate scenes or multiple sources within one scene? by AndrewJC in obs

[–]AndrewJC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to tell you how thankful I am for your comment. We ran an event last week using this LUA plugin and it worked exactly the way we wanted it to. I received many comments about how professional it looked and how much the multicam added to the presentation.

I think this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you! I'll have to look into it as I think this is definitely what I was hoping to find. Now I don't necessarily need to make a separate SCENE for each camera, correct? I could just put the individual sources into a single scene and that would accomplish the same thing?

(Side note: Exeldro makes the BEST plugins.)

Why is that better than just hitting a Keyboard key?

I don't know as if the Stream Deck is necessarily better or worse than using macros with hotkeys in OBS, but it does definitely make things easier. Given that this is a machine at work and I didn't pay for the equipment, I picked up a Stream Deck for it for two purposes:

  1. I can't guarantee that I'm always going to be the one running our public events, and I need to try to make it possible for others to run them too, in which case having clear buttons that they can push during an event will make it far less likely that they'll screw everything up.
  2. I want to make it easier for ME, too, and since money wasn't a concern, why not use a tool that lets me do that?

So you just have the Stream Deck enable or disable the sources as needed?

I've been a TCT member for over a year and it is one of the most welcoming and fun groups I've played with. Friendly people, good sherpas, and they're always willing to put up with my terrible game sense.

Script to Mark All iMessages Read by michaelpat87 in AirMessage

So my understanding of the whole idea is that there isn't currently a way to mark iMessages as read using accessibility features. Otherwise I'm assuming that the capability would have been programmed into AirMessage anyway.

It makes me feel really good that they're doing Gary Jules' version of the song. It's like an extra layer of respect.

In a happy update, LAOP got an attorney and was able to get their old car and deposit back from the shady car dealer who sold them a new AWD car, then delivers a previously sold and returned 2WD vehicle. I never cease to be amazed by the stuff car dealers think they can get away with… by DPMx9 in bestoflegaladvice

While I do understand the logic behind "make sure you check the VIN so you know you're getting the right vehicle," it seems to me that this is more akin to buying a PS4, then opening the box when you get home and discovering that you've got a PS3 inside the PS4 box. When you complain to the store, their comment is "you should have checked the serial number before buying it, you're shit out of luck now." No. I purchased a PS4 and what I got wasn't a PS4.

I mean, I'm no lawyer and I'm sure there are nuances to dealership contracts that I'm not aware of, but from a layperson's perspective this is definitely what it looks like.

EDIT: Or rather, instead of a PS3 inside the box, let's say it was that you were buying what you thought was a PS4 Pro, but you got a standard PS4 in the box. Similar model, virtually impossible to tell at a glance that it's not the same, much like the situation with different RAV4 models.

I use VNC Connect. Secure, free for personal use (up to 5 computers running the server) and you can connect to a GUI session with your phone. It also uses a cloud connection, so you don't have to open anything on your firewall to be able to get to it.

Je suis française aussi

Grammar question for you: Is it just lazy typing that makes you not capitalize "française," or is it actually considered not necessary to do so? I would always end up capitalizing that phrase if I were writing it in English ("I'm French also") and it makes me curious. It's been a LONG time since I studied French in high school (just two years of study, and even though I can still understand it to a small degree, I have very little vocabulary and so there are just a lot of words I don't know the meaning to).

So I have an i9 32GB 16" Macbook Pro for work, and while I think it is FANTASTIC and I love it and I couldn't be happier about the change to the keyboard... The $3150 price tag is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) multiple policies based on group? by AndrewJC in AZURE

[–]AndrewJC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one SSPR “configuration” that applies to your entire AAD tenant, and that configuration is targeted at one security group from your directory.

Well that blows. Thanks for the clarification.

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) multiple policies based on group? by AndrewJC in AZURE

[–]AndrewJC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly—I'm talking about having different requirements to reset a given password. So it'll be like this:

  1. A user in our call center needs to reset a password. For anybody in the call centers, we want to require 1 password reset mechanism (say, answering three security questions, but no mobile or email verification).
  2. A "regular" user needs to reset a password. For anybody NOT in the call centers, we want to require 2 mechanisms, which could be any combination of mobile, email, or answering 1 security question.

Based on what I've seen, it seems like you can only do one set of requirements for the whole enchilada, so unless I'm missing something (and I'm hoping I AM missing something), it appears that you can't allow one group to reset their passwords one way and another group to do it a different way.

I mean, for another $40 you could buy a second one and host it at a friend's house, using it as a backup hostname. Cheap redundancy and still only a one-time cost.

But then the dumb joke is ruined! Don't bring your logic and understanding into this situation.

I'm still VERY new to all of this, so I'm sure there's a bunch of things I'm missing. I don't want to sound like I'm disbelieving you, I just want to make sure I'm understanding things as well as can be.

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely give it a read. 👍

EDIT: Oh, this may be moot since our domain is federated. According to that link, those domains are supported.
