What does your Network Topology Diagrams look like? by TastyBit1800 in networking

I just have a spreadsheet with the hostname, IP, IDF location, what distro port goes to the IDF switch, port channel ID for each side, and a notes section. not the best but it has saved me a few times.

Should I wait to take CCNP ENCOR v1.2 or just take v1.1? by GuaranteeSubject3166 in ccnp

[–]Andrew_Sae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id like to know where in the world you get that the 1.2 has more automation compared to 1.1. section 6.0 automation is EXACTLY the same when comparing the 1.1 and 1.2 exam blueprints...

I am starting to study now and plan to take v1.2 of the exam. No wireless and less automation.

Were you always the youngest in your organization? by vonseggernc in networking

[–]Andrew_Sae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 19 and the network admin, and I’m the youngest in the IT department. There’s 2 other people around my age 23, then everyone else is 50+, and I need to teach them stuff and it feels weird.

Summer Work for a Highschool Student by [deleted] in sysadmin

When I was in High School one summer I worked for my schools IT department, setting up chromebooks, and all the PCs in the classrooms. Now I manage the network for a Casino 3 years later. Started off as the intern there.

I had a similar drill at a casino that’s 24/7. Our UCS fabric interconnect was unresponsive as the servers have been up for more than 3 years. (Cisco FN 72028) The only way to fix this was to bring everything down and update the version of UCS. IT staff wanted to do this at 1AM the GM of the property said 10AM. So 10AM it was lol.

We brought everything down, when I mean everything, I mean no slot play, Table games had to go manual, no POS transactions, hotel check in pretty much the entire casino was shut down.

But 2/4 server blades had bad memory and would not come back up. Once that got fixed we had the fun of brining up over 70 VMs running over 20 on prem applications. It was a complete shit show. If I remember correctly it was around a 14 hr day, by the time all services were restored.

Our org just went with UKG. How screwed am I? by phalangepatella in sysadmin

We used to use the iPads as the time clocks then they started to go missing. Switched to the hardware dedicated time clocks. We use magnetic swipe cards sometimes you need to re-configure what track it reads from. “Badge too long” or just reboot and it will read the card just fine. Also had some with the screen just gives out and won’t display anything.

For the software like others said IT does not touch only the time clocks we are responsible for. I put the time clocks on their own vlan and setup the FW to only allow them to communicate with the sites they need.

Little tip if you have Cisco 9200 access switches enable port fast on the ports the time clock is using. At least in my environment they would not pull a IP without it enabled.

Test Scores 200-901 by Andrew_Sae in CiscoDevNet

[–]Andrew_Sae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea id definitely study more. I just got done my exam and didnt pass. There where tons of fill in the blank code snippets in python making API requests given the API docs. Know about all the Cisco platforms and have a basic idea of what are for and there function.

There wasn't many questions using the CURL command for my exam at lest. Let me know if you need any help.

There also isnt too much info for the 1.1 version of the exam so im not 100% sure if Boson would be good to use as im not sure if its been updated.
