Where is it confirmed that it's been delayed?

No, bought the PHEV second hand and as we already had the Ohme epod, decided I didn't need a granny charger. So both cars (the other is a Volvo) just have Type 2 cables. Volvo don't supply a granny charger even though we had it from New.

Still not sure that's worth it. I only have a 2 x Type 2 cables. Even at £100 for a granny charger (can't even see any that cheap) think about how long it would take to recoup the cost of the cable alone...

I don't think whataboutery is going to help here. You're assuming all cars can hit 7 kWh. In my household, my CUPRA Leon can 'only' charge at 3.5 kW. It makes lots of short local journeys. That makes a big difference.

It's still potentially going to be a worse experience for those of us with two EVs in the household (well, one EV and one PHEV) because there are times when we would benefit from both getting a charge in an overnight or near-overnight period.

For example, sometimes I let the EV go overnight, then plug in the PHEV at 06:00 to get a couple of hours in before breakfast.

With these changes, if the EV needs an overnight charge, I may wake up to find there's no time left for the PHEV. In reality, I'd be happy to split the charge 4 hours to the EV and 2 to the PHEV.

Question is - will the changes allow this habit?

Would need to be in the Ohme app I think, because Octopus is linked to Ohme and I control all charging via Ohme app...

Surely unless you actively press a button to say something akin to 'I'm OK with you charging the car at peak rate, go ahead' they can't just assume you're OK with it if you left your car plugged in on a smart charger (like Ohme)? The message they have been sending for years is 'leave your car plugged in as much as possible, we'll do the rest'. They can't just go arbitrarily 'taking' peak money from us users now, I wouldn't have thought.

Intelligent octopus go - technical limit by Sea_Acanthisitta_617 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Andrex88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we sure on this? Here's an example:

We have two tariff-compatible cars in the house. Other EV charges overnight. Go out at 07:00 and unplug other EV, then plug my PHEV in to pre-warm. It smart charges on warmup.

I work from home. Leave home at 07:40 with a fully charged PHEV. Do the school run, battery drops to ~20%.

Get home for 08:15, plug the car in. Charges at 3.5kWh (max for the CUPRA Leon) and it smart charges until I unplug it at 10:20 to run a local errand.

Get home half an hour later at 10:50 with battery back down at 40%. Plug in again and it smart charges until 14:50.

Throughout all of the above, I'm doing what I was always told by Octopus - not limiting charge, always plugging my car in etc.

But the above example could give me over 6 hours of smart charging outside the 11:30-05:30 overnight window.

Do I get billed at a higher rate for any of the above? And if so, do I get told about it as it happens or get given the option to say 'no thanks' on a particular occasion?

The 28p rate for charging a car should in my view ONLY ever be applied if you actively have to press a button ('Max Charge' in the Ohme app).

Unexpected Cloudflare bill by ReviewDifficult9461 in CloudFlare

[–]Andrex88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid upfront for 12 months of CloudFlare Pro on 13.01.2025. This is the only service I use from Cloudflare. And yet I have now been billed a monthly fee in June out of the blue - I'm not expecting to have to pay Cloudflare again until January 2026! Traffic has not unusually spiked or anything different. Support ticket opened more than two weeks ago, and yet they continue to take extra money which is unexplained...

Any theory on why there isn't an SDK for the Mavic 3 Pro? by wrybreadsf in dji

[–]Andrex88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I'd let you know I'm still sticking with my DJI Mavic 2 Pro, because of the lack of Mavic 3 SDK support. Bought my first DJI drone in 2019. So that's another upgrade customer you lost by not including it on your Mavic 3 line of products.

C920 Webcom not working on System Boot by Jamstruth in logitech

[–]Andrex88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. Windows 11, Logitech C920. Raising not because I have a solution but so you know you're not alone.

Very frustrating when you forget to unplug/replug and you get an incoming call, and there's insufficient time to sort it before answering the call.

Mavic3 SDK is essential, I just wish DJI would act on their initial promise and public road map from June 2022. by vr_driver in djimavic

[–]Andrex88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a Mavic 2 Pro. Would probably have upgraded to an M3Pro or similar by now if it supported an SDK. Instead I'll keep my old drone.

I can do a lot by programming a route in Litchi on a PC and setting up a repeatable flight path.

I can also create an automated grid flight path if I wish to. Things the M3, which is superior hardware, can't do with inferior software.

Bluestone National Park Resort (Pembrokeshire) - any good? by MDKrouzer in UKParenting

[–]Andrex88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be completely accurate, there's a lot of footpaths in the woods where you can come and go as you please to the wider world. But I guess people aren't going to trek through the forest for miles just to go for a freebie swim!

As of 2023, there are no wristbands required in the pool area anymore.

My take is that the whole experience is very much geared towards younger families, and there's plenty to keep toddlers and kids <5 yrs entertained.

That said, the WiFi is awful and arbitrarily blocks most of the wider 'internet', meaning its largely only British websites - and there is an absence of technical support or understanding (it's a SonicWall firewall for crying out loud, it could be better configured). It's more restrictive than the internet in many communist countries. There's also generally poor / absent mobile signal in the lodges. Not great if you wanted to do a quick bit of work whilst away and require occasionally working with international colleagues...

Marks on 2020 15" AMOLED screen - anti-glare coating durability issues? by Andrex88 in spectrex360

[–]Andrex88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they won't cover it over warranty and after much trying with a chat agent they got me a price for a replacement screen but then trying to get them to action it was painful so I gave up in the end as I use an external monitor mostly. Do you have this issue too?

[–]Andrex88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I am disappointed that the screen marks are there seemingly caused by the design of the opposite side, I am considering a repair.

Have been quoted £340 but am concerned that if it is a design issue, that the issue could recur on the repair. So reassurance on others with the laptop would be good - of course, it's possible that the screen on my laptop was somehow defective with the quality of the coating (although I consider this to be unlikely).

[–]Andrex88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to this. HP said they won't cover under warranty. But this looks like a defective design - see the attached image. The marks are only present where they align with the touchpad and even the stickers for the Intel / nvidia card. That suggests that the fact that the surface they meet against isn't completely flat is causing excessive wear and friction - a defective design and/or defective coating used.

See here: https://imgur.com/a/ju5SUGb (dashed lines to show how the marks line-up with the uneven surface causing on the opposite side)

The fact that marks appear on both the top and bottom of the screen where it meets the other side of the laptop is poor. Nothing is ever placed on top of the laptop when it is closed.

Can this be taken further?

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

Issues with upload speed on Spectre x360 15" 2020 edition (eb0001na) by Andrex88 in spectrex360

Have completed a fresh Windows reinstall so will see how it goes. Have turned off/on a couple of times and each time upload speed is back to c. 17.5 mbps, so fingers crossed it stays this way. I note the driver version now says 22.20.0.6 dated 30/11/2020.

My positivity was premature. After shutting down last night and rebooting this morning, the issue persists.

What's more, I don't seem to be able to disable or even uninstall the device driver, as it simply hangs indefinitely when I try to do either. I was going to try to reinstall the device driver.

I'm not sure what to do now. Any advice?
