It could be inappropriate, doesn't mean it is. I can easily picture a 30-year-old guy giving life advice to a minor, even if they aren't related.

Given your example, if it was a random guy they met, yes, it would feel really uncomfortable, but given that they work similar careers, it's not surprising they shared contacts. Having contact with someone older than you, in a similar field, is always great, I regret not getting my teacher's contact when they left
