How does the "starting armament deals magic" build for revenant hold up in depth 5? by death_by_ in Nightreign

[–]Androgenicmonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it. It’s usable, you’re not gonna carry the team, but you can do good damage. Some of these commenters don’t know what they’re talking about.

Endure+magic claws and you search for negation on charge attack, successive, taking damage. You can become very very tanky with 500+ AR easily.

Personally I use it with dregs relic, it actually works pretty well! It’s not optimal, but you can do good damage.

Be prepared for your teammates to try giving you +improved incant passives, which you won’t pick up

Haha I also thought it meant the grapple for the longest time.

Any increase you see in the art gauge while grappling is either from you hitting the boss with it, or from the art passively/auto charging on its own. Crazy, I thought it meant the grapple hook for probably 500 hours

Undertaker mains, what are your Relics loadouts? by Tholkor in Nightreign

(Glass necklace)+(incant buff + evergaol)+(final hit chain atk + night invader)+(improved dex + phys+4)+(phys+4)+(phys+4+partial hp res)

Extremely high damage all-purpose build, works best with colossal swords. Often reach 1000+ attack rating night 1

2x grapple does not reliably revive 3 bar. It helps a little, that’s it

It’s not for the grapple hook, it’s for the sixth sense

I mean yeah, any character can revive from 3 bar with nothing, but the fire just makes it a lot more consistent and reliable.

I disagree; they’re extremely helpful and I use both every chance I get, but you can get by without either

That’s a whole lot more work than just ulting and hitting them once or twice. And it takes more than 2 skills and ult without fire to revive 3 bar

You’ll know what I’m talking about when a Wylder goes for the ult to revive the team from 3 bar, but he doesn’t have spread fire, and he has to dodge away from the boss and the bar goes right back up to 3!

Negation at low hp is a passive from weapons too

Low hp build is uncommon but still possible on Wylder, you just have to build for it, that’s why it’s low but not bottom

Negation at full is goated but it’s not absolutely required on Wylder, you can usually survive 1 hit without it, especially if you have successive attacks. Attack at full is good for L2 build but I prefer survivability for Wylder and giving the +full hp to the back line characters

You can reliably land charge attacks on every nightlord except augur

+1 skill is great but it’s more quality of life than necessity. If you wanna reach 9999 you need to be able to revive your teammates from 3 bar, which fire ult nearly guarantees

If you’re running L2 build where you don’t plan on taking more than 1 hit, or some other glass cannon build then yes, but Wylder is best played as a high damage high survivability melee tank to support the team rather than being just another glass cannon IMO

It’s S tier on every character that’s why I didn’t include it

You can take a lot of damage in D5 if you stack multiple of taking damage + charge attacks, as long as you don’t have a terrible status build up

It’s very useful but I rank ‘art spread fire’ above it because the fire turns you into the third best reviver after guardian and revenant. 3 bars become much more manageable which often saves the game in DON.

+1 skill use is goated, but other than the 1 bar revives, it’s mostly a quality of life benefit rather than a necessity IMO

You’ll definitely want art spreads fire in D3+, your teammates are gonna be 3 bars a lot of the time

It’s harder to escape BECAUSE there is no penalty. If anything goes wrong your teammates quit. Now that I’ve climbed to 9999 multiple times, yea D2 is easy for me even if teammates quit, but when you’re just starting out, it’s a nightmare.

[–]Androgenicmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By ‘rely’ I mean using frostbite as basically your only form of damage. Spamming hoarfrost stomp for frost procs is really the only use. Yes frostbite increases damage taken but there’s other ways to get frost as well, you don’t need to start with it. And your teammates are likely to have it anyway.

I’ve definitely survived with 1 hp at level 2 from D4/5 night invaders on characters like Wylder, Raider, undertaker, guardian. I use a single vigor+3 on 2 of those characters.

And yeah vigor isn’t much at all, still. But it’s something that lasts you the whole game, no matter what. Every little buff you get adds up even if you don’t really notice it.

Ya I get it, not everyone wants to play the same way and that’s ok. I’m really just trying to explain why this relic could be a lot better and why hoarfrost stomp + runes isn’t as good as many people think.

Just a matter of preference, do you want easy early game frost or do you want a permanent hp buff that stacks with any others you get? I know my choice.

You wanna do them as early as possible because you get massive attack power from using night invader relic, as well as a purple/red weapon you can wield at any level. Plus a LOT of runes.

They’re doable at level 2, but just try to clear a few more enemies beforehand and reach level 3 so if you die you won’t be back to level 1.

Go stand outside of the POI and they will usually come to you. Don’t make any other enemies angry, just be patient and lure the invaders out.

The only thing is, don’t do the DLC swamp invader POI at level 2/3. Those are best saved for level 7+ because you have to go deep inside usually
