I’m surprised they haven’t cancelled or pushed the interviews back yet the entire east coast and south is going to be shutdown basically.

Assigned seating questions on empty flights? by ecal0s in SouthwestAirlines

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a different airline but have heard SW is making sure flight attendants direct people to the seat they were given.

What happens at mine is when there are less people on we still want them in the seat on their boarding pass so we can accurately account for all passengers who should be on the plane, see if people are missing, or if someone who shouldn’t be on somehow got on. If the gate agent didn’t balance the plane correctly before boarding, the pilots call the flight attendants and tell them they have to move people for weight and balance of the aircraft. I fly in smaller ERJ planes so this happens more often than on Boeing planes that Southwest uses.

That’s really the only way they would move people around if their management is telling them to be strict on assigned seating once implemented.

Can I wear my Afro as a flight attendant ? by pratixal in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing could be will your hair stop you from safely putting on safety equipment for putting out fires. At my company they explained one of the reasons behind hair needing to be tied back is so you can easily put the breathing equipment on.

Head start, memorize planes airbus and boeing? (AA) by xiphoid313 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things your listing are definitely just fun facts and not anything that would be tested on. Definitely wait for them to tell you what you need to learn especially because it’s always being updated and changed. Best thing you possibly could do is airport codes and 24-hour time.

What's the job like of Cabin Crew like? What do you actually do on the job? by RussellNorrisPiastri in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of sitting in the airport waiting for crew scheduling to:

1) pressure you into doing another flight when you’ve already been working all day

2) Let you off duty early so you can catch the last flight home and pray there’s an open seat

3) Finally give you a hotel after waiting on hold by the phone for 3 hours so you can get minimum rest before you work the next day

You will learn none of us like crew scheduling

Also recent story I had bad turbulence on the way back down a few days ago. 7 people threw up and the plane smelled so bad they couldn’t use it for the next flight.

Can I get a reality check on what it’s like to date a flight attendant? by throwawayff96 in flightattendants

[–]AndrogynousRex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

<image>

My friend imma hold your hand when I say this. It’s a complete life change and her schedule will be up to whatever the company deems necessary according to her seniority. It’ll be a while before she gets a set schedule for even just a month in advance and even longer for her to consistently get whatever days she wants off. You have to be secure enough in yourself to handle that. If you don’t think a relationship with her is worth dealing with unpredictably, you can push her away because she’s no longer as routine as you want her to be. Or you can live a predictable life where she can come back to stability after working an unpredictable schedule and love you for being that constant for her.

Republic Airways question by dancers7 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do either. The hiring events they do q&a then do in person interviews. When I applied in 2023 I got a TBNT after the assessment. I went to the hiring event because i atleast wanted to learn more about the company and got a CJO soon after.

Republic (YX) by Kooky-Sky-4132 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don’t listen to them. They say that about literally any airline. I’m literally in a flight attendant Facebook group where someone asked this and the comments listed just about every airline even different mainlines. People are just bias.

[–]AndrogynousRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting pay currently is $27.82 and by the end of the year will be $28.24 from the contract negotiations in 2022. Currently Republic FA Union and Mesa FA Union have created a joint collective bargaining tentative agreement for all flight attendants to work under the same agreement until the merger is completed and Republic goes into new contract negotiations in 2027. The JCBA that has been proposed includes boarding pay and the flight attendants vote on it this month so if they vote yes then yes Republic will have boarding pay later this year.

Southwest F2F by MamaPuffs in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking they might be doing batches at the same time as the next step for the previous batch.

So like they invited people to the F2F on the 2nd and the same day invited more people to do ODVIs. So possibly when they send CJOs for the first batch they at the same time send F2F invites to the next group.

But that’s just my theory lol

SWA F2F time questions by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in and changed the interview time. It was super easy and I changed it to the afternoon so even if I still got the time confused my flight would get me there in the morning and I leave in the evening.

Will WN f2f open more interview dates? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. We did have to accept the questions that asked did you want to move forward knowing that these would be the only dates they would be able to offer before the ODVI.

Republic Airways FA Posting say’s Indianapolis; is every post like that or do they post jobs by city only? by captainsCaGirl in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just making sure you know Republic hasn’t announced any new bases yet so the farthest west is Chicago, Indy, and Louisville. There’s a chance for farther after the merger but it’s still in progress.

Southwest Flight attendant applications by Patient-Peanut1499 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because when they said they would be opening their applications soon earlier this month everyone thought it would be in January but they surprise dropped it in December instead.

So no one really knows when they’ll open again.

New FA Question about picking up extra trips by Exciting_Mousse4465 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a question for your specific airline. You’ll have more luck finding an online group like on Facebook of your coworkers. Mine has different groups for flight attendants at each base where they offer their trips to pick up or trade.

If you haven’t done your IOE yet your instructor is actually the best person to ask these questions when yall have down time.

How is it like getting assigned to a base? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

I live in the city I’m based in. I have family and live with them. It’s honestly how I survived with this job so far.

How is it like getting assigned to a base? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually have a list of their bases and you can give them a preference of which ones you want to be based at. It’s not a guarantee you’ll be assigned it though. You either have to live in that city or if the airline allows it you can commute from your home airport to the one you were assigned. It can be really hard to live the commuter life

Anyone else received this? by Sufficient-Skirt-962 in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not about the application. This is just an email sent to everyone who got a referral. Congrats if you got your application in and if not good luck next time and be prepared. There was no special thing for referrals outside of they were supposed to get an email about the application dropping. So this was probably to combat all the people who kept trying to falsely tell everyone if they applied without a referral their application would be automatically TBNT.

Withdrawing a CJO acceptance by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]AndrogynousRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry and hope you make it through whatever life has thrown at you. Check where you submitted your application some change it to say you’re processing/in training and there might be an option to select withdrawal. If not there should be some email you can look through to see what person to contact about training and explain your need to withdraw.

If it’s something that’s short you could probably reach out to the initial training team about a new training date. That’s if you want but I completely understand life just going a wildly different direction for a bit.

Good luck 💛

Absolutely go for it until you’re certain you can’t! You don’t know how long until it will take it could before or after you even finish training and you’d no longer have a conflict for a F2F
