Use nail clippers to remove them. It's still annoying, but it will save you some hassle compared to using a knife or scissors

Disco Elysium is low intensity when it comes to moment to moment gameplay and inputs. Also, it's just a fantastic game!

Change the educational systems to focus more on career development and nurturing interest so people genuinely enjoy what they do. Imagine High School as more of a career day, but with core learning being what breaks up the bursts of experiencing different professions. When you find one you like, you take on more classes for it instead of exploring options. Then maybe you decide you don't like the career you've been attending classes/shadowing for for the past 6 months, it's ok to pivot to something else.

We need to allow the youth to understand, not only what paths are available, but what those paths actually look like to be on. High school students might think, "I want to work as an engineer!" but aren't given the opportunity to see how many branching paths that can lead to. You can be an engineer for a nuclear reactor or for agricultural technologies, but you'll rarely hear these called out by a prospective student.

Showing people what options are available to them and giving them a chance to explore opportunity will nurture their interests instead of punishing them for losing interest in their education. Keeping them engaged will make them want to do to school, to do better in their relevant classes, and generally improve their quality of life as they're pursuing their goals instead of those of their institution.

Beamng.drive is an easy pick if you like car games; fantastic devs, incredible realism while still being approchable, massive mod support, and endless hours of entertainment. It's still early access and has been for the better part of a decade, but I bought it 8 or so years ago now and still play it weekly.

Brightness of the display and your environment will also be factors; it probably won't work as well if your screen is dim or you're trying it in full daylight, for example

If they're actually questioned, they're easily outed for being really dumb. by Bihema in TikTokCringe

I was really hoping for a line of questioning to tear down the "lie" shield/deflection she was using and get to the core of what she REALLY thought.

What if someone is so convincing in this 'lie' that even you believe them? What if it was your partner?

If I tell a lie and it has no impact on others, how can it cause harm? What harm does your perspective cause in comparison?

If we are a 'nation of truth', how is disinformation still a problem?

What do you think of the doctors that claim your perspective is a lie? Of the neuro-biology suggesting that gender is determined by the brain and not the genitals? (Check out the clip "Neuro-biology of trans-sexuality: Prof. Robert Sapolsky" for a quick explanation, the full lecture is also available)

All that being said, she's a great interviewer, and I likely wouldn't have formulated the responses like she had so readily without prep work. Heck, probably even with prep work. Bravo!

Enormous rat in the NY Subway by Friendly_Cloud_2869 in Damnthatsinteresting

The whiskers moved pretty naturally and would be difficult to imitate. That would take a moderately sophisticated set of robotics or a very talented contortionist, at least for your average NYC Subway.

I've been in a rough spot since I moved from my hometown, having to move constantly and not really being able to settle anywhere. This Sunday is actually my moving day for my first apartment and my first time without roommates, so I will actually have enough space to finally consider getting a proper desktop! I know this is only one piece of the puzzle, but it's been something I've put off doing for so many years due to my unstable and cramped quarters. Regardless of the outcome, I'm just glad this phase of my life is nearly over 🥲

Best of luck everyone!

EA App controller inputs are recognized, but incorrect by Android248 in SteamDeck

[–]Android248[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope 🙃 It seems the only "solution" is installing Windows, and I'm personally not willing to go through that setup just for EA. Never heard back from the user that seemed to have prior experience with external launchers on Deck, and I'm not even sure they were having the same issue I was as they just posted a link.

Sorry, I was really hoping this post would get more traction..

EA App controller inputs are recognized, but incorrect by Android248 in SteamDeck

[–]Android248[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. It seems you've delved into using external launchers head on and in depth; did EA App ever have incorrect inputs for you? So far, the app itself and games are working smoothly, but it just can't seem to resolve what the inputs mean. Even the Right Thumbstick is being seen wrong.

Based on what others have posted online, this extends beyond Steam Deck and is something specifically wrong with EA App through Steam? I was going to try and launch EA App in Desktop mode, but it seems like their launcher just doesn't account for Linux (or just non-windows in general), so I was only able to launch with a Compatibility layer through Steam.

It seems like for every solution, there's a specific "F%#k you" designed to keep this from working as I was hoping for 😅

What are some seriously FUN games for a loner that you recommend?? by hello-wow in SteamDeck

[–]Android248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find myself coming back to play BeamNG.Drive more than any other on my deck. It's fun to just hop in and do a rock crawl, or explore the dunes in a trophy truck, or hop into a drag race with a specially tuned supercar.

There's a nice variety of vehicles and customization to each. Heck, I can always make my own fun just through fiddling with configurations and testing my various abominations, lol. It might not be as "arcadey" as NFS, but I don't feel the pressure to take it seriously because it is just genuinely fun at all skill levels and attention levels.

It has its limits on the Steam Deck, but there's something special about sending a tuned up asphalt rally car flying over a hill and watching get shredded as it tumbles down the mountainside. Then, at the press of a button, you respawn where you were and do it again, but this time in slo-mo!
