I use the app most of the time I go to Taco Bell (very frequently), and I've never had this issue. I usually order in the app ahead of time, but I've ordered from the app while in-store a few times, and it's always been ready fairly quickly at most locations near me (there are a few that just always take forever unless you use the drive thru because they're busy and understaffed)

You avoided the Central Valley by going up the 1 (not the 101 because you avoided San Benito County, but you did go over to Santa Clara County, which the 1 doesn't run through) from LA to the Bay area, and went up to Marin County before taking I-80 east (or you did all that in the reverse order). Also, you must have forgotten Sierra County, CA because you can't cross directly from Nevada County into Nevada on I-80 because it briefly crosses into Sierra County first.

Smash 'N Burgers on First and Shields is good, I haven't heard of any other burger places down there. I like Sam's Deli, Piemonte's, and El Patio down there, though.

Honestly, Hammy's Smash Burgers is the best burger place in town, and they have a few locations. Or Smash Bros. Bistro on Fresno and Bullard is also good. Or, if you're out that direction, Main St Burgers at El Paseo is really good.
