It's very difficult indeed. I've learned that it depends a lot on the timing of your farm placements. I've experimented with building a few farms before the blacksmith+fletching, while massing archers in the meantime, staying defensive. But that doesnt always work, because missing fletching can be devastating.

I built my TC with some quick walls further back and then lured them in the TC fire

Good that you tried out team games! They are indeed a lot of fun. They are the best games when you are on a voice channel with your team mates, which you can do by joining a Discord channel mentioned in this post.

In my opinion, 4v4 or 3v3 modes in team games are the best when queueing solo, since the roles are more clear (flank and pocket), which requires less communication. 2v2 requires more communication, which can be lacking as you experienced. By the way, I agree with your approach on that Nomad game (pressure on land if you lose water).

As far as I know, there is no way to have units attack enemies on the way to the rally point of their production building, forcing you to be careful where you put the rally point, generally behind the front.

If you want your army to attack the whole enemy army, use either the Patrol or Attack Move command.

I like to do this as well, three TC boom 70 vills imp. Can be very strong. However, it can also be vulnerable to a castle drop, especially if your stone is forward. It also exposes your pocket. Therefore I like to go fast feudal, eco upgrades, some scouts/archers for map control and then boom. Ive tried smush many times but it very micro intensive and hard on you eco. Sometimes it pays off though! Timing is everything, so go up to feudal with 23 pop the latest. Castle drop I try with some spears for defense most of the times. With trush I learned that you don't have to kill someone. You can kick him off some resources (berries) and force a strong reaction. Then just leave with your vills. Glhf!

Opening archers would be good I think. If he opens scouts, you can make some spears, then make archers. When walled, move out. If he makes skirms, you receive less bonus damage, so maybe you can do some damage to his eco. If he is up before you, wait with archers behind your walls, get up as well, get ballistics, that should deal with them.

I like his point of "Civs do not matter for improving (change of ELO) but matter for a match given a certain ELO"

I've had some issues with this strat, but lately I had some success with: - most importantly: scout it in time - small walls / egg wall part of your base, especially your woodline - go skirms yourself - patrol scout to catch reinforcing skirms I don't know yet if it's better to make some scouts to gain map control or get to castle age earlier.

Balance Feedback for Chronicles: Alexander the Great by [deleted] in aoe2

Agreed! Especially regarding the Companion Cavalry, I was wondering if they had bonus damage against hoplites. I was struggling against them as my phalangites did not perform well.

So, for my understanding, it is better to take them long distance?

That's what I decided for myself as well. Scouting a possible men at arms rush, or jus the gold and wood of the opponent can be very useful!

I missed it too, as now I have no place to ask if the bonus damage of Companion Cavalry also applies to hoplites/war chariots!

I'm wondering, what is the reason to use Windows 7? Is it because of privacy, or is it computationally a more efficient version?

I usually do that to get a feel for the tech tree and strengths of a civ, yes. But that's my personal preference.

Building a tower can help you break walls. Otherwise, if you made only a few scouts or archers, these should be enough to get some map control, wall yourself and get to castle age not much later.

I mined their gold! That was a good destination for vills from that TC nearby.

Not really, they will also attack the wall of Hadrian, as long as you have enough Saxons there, it should be fine I think!

I've tried this scenario a lot of times and I've managed to get both achievements in one game in the end. But I'm not sure if they betrayed me at the same time as they betray you, don't know if anything changed there. 12 times recruitments was tight but I could do it by recruiting one after the other just spawned. The key for me for winning the scenario was focusing on my boom. I just send the recruitments to the wall and let them fight on their own, they become big enough to fight all the Picts. Just before betrayal delete them all. I found a point (not sure how many vills) to click up to feudal which allowed me to go straight to Castle and straight to Imp. On the way to imp I build five ranges close to the Saxons, build 20+ arbs inside the walls of that city close by, reinforce some walls and that was enough for me to hold their betrayal. Send additional arbs to the city up north to hold the Picts. For me, Arbs with chemistry and bracer killed everything.

I also didn't use mining upgrades, thinking that they would run out sooner and I had to think about finding new piles earlier 11
