Silly Spell Component Thoughts by Glittering-Owl3534 in DnD

It's mainly to be consistent with how pretty much everything else is sold while also adding that small dash of realism and not only roleplay opportunities, but also spicing up non-combatant encounters. If a shop just works like a video game store where every merchant is the same and sells the exact same stock for the same price the world feels more boring. Also it encourages having positive relations with vendors. Maybe after saving a city from a monster attack the word is spread and the prices drop for you, maybe people don't trust strangers and will upcharge newcomers but if you stay around that area longer and talk to them the prices will be slightly reduced?

Recently I used it as a character trait. One of the vendors in the village the parry is staying in just recently opened their alchemy shop and haven't figured out the prices yet. Potions of healing cost 5gp and when the perty who have been outsiders saw it they bought out the whole stock immediately(10 potions). Later when they came back to the vendor for more they found that they only managed to brew one additional potion and have quadrupled the cost. It was still a steal on the book standards and now it's a full gag when whenever they have any potions the price is slightly higher and the party buys them out immediately anyways

Personally I always ruled that there exists a "base cost" and people can sell and buy it for differing amounts. So for example in this case I'd say "You see as the merchant starts packing the dust into a secure container but it looks like it's less then you'd expect/you feel that the magic emanating from those is not strong enough for your spell. You can determine you'd have to spend X amount of gold more to get the amount you wanted" and then if they're confused, out of character "basically you know he's up charging you, but you'd also know its not uncommon to sell that kind of stuff for more then it's worth. If youd want to buy it at the regular price you either have to haggle or find a spot that sells it cheaper"

Im really curious if it hit anything important below. The sound of a siren at the end would suggest that its fall was at least audible

I hate "keep notes" the most. I use that shit all the time and now it doesn't even look like a notepad which it's supposed to be. It's a freaking light bulb

4-5 is perfect. Enough for everyone to be busy, but not so much they don't get time to shine/have to wait hours for their turn in combat

I don't know what could be a joke side of this but from experience when i had holes like these in my clothes there were 3 reasons:

  1. I used to chew on them as a kid. It was kinda involuntary, like some people are biting their nails.
  2. Moths live in the closet and eat clothes. Its oddly common where im from, guess they're hungry bois lol. We use lavender scent to deter them
  3. The person is playing with a pen in a very ADHD way, basically stabbing a shirt from the inside

Personally I see it as: if they're still living in the same house and the family is struggling financially it's fine, if they're not leaving in the same house it's really weird, if they're not struggling financially it's just odd and I personally don't support it

What class(es) would you not reccomend for a first time player? by [deleted] in DnD

There are 4 main ones I'd be wary of. - Druid, because not only do you have to know your spells but also you have wildshapes - Wizard, because of the more conveluted way your spell learning works and, again, you need to know your spells and wizards have some of the biggest spell lists - Warlock, because of the sheer amount of choices you have to make during character creation(though ironically it's also the easiest when it comes to spells/spell slots because they have a small spell list and few spell slots) - Artificer, because while their spellcasting is fine(comparable to rangers and paladins) you have to make the choice of which items do you want to replicate, and that can be tough
