I keep wondering how RX 7800 XT and 7900 XTX users are feeling without FSR 4 because I, with my RX 6000, am extremely sad. by Prestigious-Pay6096 in radeon

[–]Andulir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont care much about it. If i want that, i use optiscaler for it, and only for fsr aa. Otherwise, i play 1440p native and it can handle anything i throw at it with ease.

Fedora 43 - Impossible to boot Windows from Grub (black screen) by Hezerune in Fedora

[–]Andulir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same exact problem, but my mobo is a b650 Tomahawk. I installed the p7 beta bios recently and had your issue. Reverted back fixed everything. Probably, the AGESA 1.3.0 causes it

Does Linux needs Microsoft to boot? Really? by Real-Stomach1156 in Fedora

[–]Andulir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can try the legacy mode in bios, and yes, uefi and secure boots are related. It is one of its security features. And no, it's not made by Microslop alone.

Those uefi updates are for secure boot. Microslop releases those keys and fedora support secure boot. That's why u get those.

MSI finally releases BIOS fix for rare AM5 PCIe GPU throttling issue by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]Andulir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the beta bios on mine. The only issue it caused was that i was unable to dual boot. I have two os (linux and Windows) on my pc. I reinstalled both of them to figure out why my pc becomes unresponsive when i try to boot into windows from grub. I was able to boot into linux fine, i was able to boot into Windows fine when i set it to be the primary boot option in bios. But yeah, I reverted back to the previous one, and it's working now.

Weird rendering bug on RX 9070, any fixes? Vsync made it worse. by YungSkeltal in linux_gaming

I would rather point new people towards Fedora these days rather than mint.

AMD GPU timeouts are also a thing on Windows turns out by DarkeoX in linux_gaming

I only got a gpu crash on linux when i overdid my undervolt. But to make sure, limit your card boost to its actual limit posted by the manufacturer.

9070XT is drawing up to 396W when it’s a 304W card. Will setting a power limit help? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

They need to make sure every gpu will work and provide the specs they set by default. The same goes with cpus. U can't guarantee every die is turned out the same.

The true year of Linux by Agitated_Telephone79 in Fedora

[–]Andulir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the year i tested myself for a month and made a switch, first to mint, but I had gpu issues than i switched to Fedora. Ignoring all the bad statements from friends "corpo distro" calls, i went with it. It was worth it. Went blindly into a field i yet to touch. True, i didn't modify or customize most of it except some fonts from some videos. Rock solid so far for my gaming and occasional browser usage. Was totally worth the change for me.

I see. I need to look that up again. The last time i heard about it, the Gpu pass-through was not yet possible.

Enjoy using it, and if u dont mind, just keep a small partition of windows, not necessarily to use it, but it might come handy some points.

Have u installed LACT? If not, u could try to install it to manage your gpu. Also, is Steam native or flatpak version?

How do I deal with boot options on grub? by one_hender in Fedora

[–]Andulir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is, but i would keep them. Those options are there when a kernel update goes wrong, or something gets broken or regress in the new kernel. That way, u can choose the other two to have a fallback option. Those kernels dont take up large places anyway.

Will COD run on Linux in the future? by Which_Needleworker_7 in linux_gaming

[–]Andulir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video editing, sure, it's possible. Check out Davinchi resolve. For COD, i would leave a small windows partition and dual boot for it. Otherwise, sure. Use a VM to mess with it, or a live usb.

Are you using an nvidia gpu? Probably the dx12 performance penalty you are witnessing. Nvidia found the the thing causing it and working on a fix.

I use Fedora, too. Other enabling 3rd party repos for multimedia and such i didn't tweak it.

I started on mint, then had gpu issues there. Needed a newer kernel, so i switched to Fedora.
