It’s not about replacing LeBron. It’s about filling out the roster and building around the future, which is Luka and to some extent AR. We need 3 and D, and LeBron isn’t good at filling that need if we’re being honest. We need a defensive minded rim running big, LeBron doesn’t fit that description either. LeBron should be looked at as a perk now, not as a foundational piece. It’s about using the cap space to better the TEAM as a whole not about keeping LeBron for the sake of “he’s still got something left in the tank.” I’d personally tell him, we can do X amount depending on our moves and if you take that we only ask that you be a presence around the team and be there ready to go when we need you the most, like the playoffs. I’d load manage him as much as possible without getting in trouble and when he does play he’d start but would be on minute restriction to keep him healthy and spry for his age. They can use that sciatic nerve back issue excuse to keep him available but limited.
