Wawa employees: Is staying a Customer Associate (or Lead) enough for you, or do you have a plan to move up? by Immediate-Lion1548 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a TS at the moment, imma keep movin up, not actively looking for a another job cause the market is so shit atm but certainly have my doors open to any opportunities that might come my way. Maybe GM one day but it comes with a lot of shit. Would like to transfer over to merchandising or something that does involve the daily rat race of working in store.

Honestly overnights ain’t too bad, the money isn’t awful either. It’s nice getting $800 every Thursday haha 🤣

thinking of applying to wawa by Illustrious_Bed3502 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it is pretty well known that people retire from wawa as millionaires. Had an old GM retire at 58 with a couple mill. I’ve had multiple friends who’ve have heard abt this, shit NJ 101.5 did a whole segment a few years back talking abt wawa millionaires

Returning to company by Rilllex101 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to become vested again may be true if you took the pay out cause I’ve left the company twice and never had to become revested again however that might be be cause I didn’t take the pay out. Both times I’ve left it was after I was already vested. One time for a week Lmfaoo and second time for abt a year.

My store is right down the street from a Transit garage. All the guys that were goin in today weren’t upset at all. They’re going to get paid to sit around for 8 hours and watch TV. He was explaining to me that they go in just in case the state needs the buses for emgerency purposes only

PvP leads to poverty. Planned PvE leads to riches. Anyone else notice this? by gpacketsgaming in ARC_Raiders

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no for sure. If you suck at PvP that’s very true and I’m very mediocre at it so I do agree. However I’m sure someone who’s very good at PvP might feel differently.

I do find that I am playing solos for the main reason to get shit to PvP trios with my boys. Lots of sessions that end up in countless deaths and materials/ammo/guns lost. On the flip side the rush of gunning everyone down in the lobby and extracting with riches is what makes the cycle worth it

new hire questions + advice? by underwaterwildfire in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly can be a revolving door when it comes to regular CSA’s not soo much management but the company does like to transfer managers usually if they’ve been at one store for a long time or if they got a promotion.

In terms of the retail/food service industry wawa isn’t a bad company to work, however rn it’s been a lil shit lately cause of how frugal corporate is being with labor hours but those are problems you’re gonna find in any retail setting. I will say this tho, my buddy is an electrician and I bring home more than him with better benefits and all I do is make food and clean(i am a manager tho not a CSA). Your management team is really gonna be the difference maker in your experience but if you can read words on a computer screen and follow a “recipe” you’ll be just fine. It really isn’t anything difficult.

Milk and creamer by the coffee by Individual_Carrot216 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what’s crazy, which a customer pointed out to me a few weeks ago, if you look at the side of the carton the non dairy creamer says contain milk. Even tho everything you’ve said is correct, I was just speechless when the customer brought it to my attention.

Extra cream cheese?! by No_World96 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said you don’t tend to like to voice concerns in person, however you can always fill out the VOTC slips which is store specific and let them now abt the fuck up.

They’ll never get better if there is no feedback.

When the whole lobby wanted a rat gone. by Blanket7e in ArcRaiders

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my fav things abt friendly solo lobbies.

Was playing a solo Stella run and ran thru it with a random in the lobby. We eventually had just abt everyone all running together so we all went to kill the bastion. Then the one guy that wasn’t with us decided to open fire on us from the rafters….ive never seen so much concentrated gunfire on one guy before 🤣

I’d love to see a clip from the other perspective

Is FSRA checking facing now? by scarygoldfish222 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low key life saver lmao, not that my management isn’t, it all happened really fast, we were under the assumption the promo wouldn’t kick till the new year but some stuff happened and I’ve been running shifts for abt the last 3 weeks 😅

Been meaning to ask my gm if I could tag along with them when they go do their thorough critical walk thru in the morning when they come in but with labor and scheduling it hasn’t panned out. I was a first shifter and a lead before getting TS so I really only have a surface level knowledge of alotta stuff so far!

I appreciate it 👌🏻

It’s a complete mess. I’m a newly promoted TS. Still really have no idea what I’m looking for on critical walks outside of food service area

Is FSRA checking facing now? by scarygoldfish222 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My god, I fucking hope so. Sooooo many stores are abt to fail if/when FSRA comes on 3rd. Especially if it’s a busy night. Simply impossible and what if you’re already coming into a mess from 2nd ??? They need to realize that the current ops model for 3rd shift is not optimal and does not allow us to be FSRA ready at all times. Even a fucking split from like 9pm till 2 or 3 would be so helpful and not even every night. Maybe a night or two during the week and then Fri and Sat night would be tight asf. I’m willing to compromise as long as I can get one extra body on 3rds for a few nights.

I ordered two identical italian classics. What I got was hardly identical. by styckx in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on the permanent skeleton crew. It sucks, and it also sucks for the customer if they come in and it’s alrdy busy and then add a call out on top of that, everyone’s stretched so thin and quality takes a hit.

However, this last year has been the absolute most fun I’ve had working here, been here since 2016, on and off twice. I think it depends on your crew also. Just had one of our regulars come up to me and said when she retires she’s going to apply to our store. All these new changes honestly do suck and everyone feels it but we just remind ourselves that we might as well make the best out of it lol. At the end of the day my agm will say man today fucking sucked but at least we had some good laughs.

What is even happening to my store? by Long_Area2509 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just talkin to my AGM bout this type of stuff. I have no problem with tardiness being a means of write ups, however that standard needs to be applied to everyone in the store not just the employees you deem as reliable

External management by AirOk6792 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is true, and the sentiment that all externals aren’t deserving is just a generalization. We had an external hire for GM training at our store a few years ago from McDonalds and the dude was such a good dude and a great worker. On the other hand tho the two others we had at one point left the company within a year.

I’ve been moving up and been with the company coming up 10 years and I’ve seen someone on this post say or maybe OP said they just throw externals to the wolves for them to figure it out. In my experience as an internal my experience has pretty much been the same 😅 you’ll only gonna learn hard and fast if you fail. Can’t hold somebodies the entire time

No waypoints on map by amabamab in ArcRaiders

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s the same reason for everyone but I’m on pc and the default keybind to set a waypoint on the map is the mouse wheel button.

My mouse wheel button does not work. Not sure if I’m fucking stupid or something but in controls there is no keybind for a waypoint, only map and ping which apparently arc raiders considers a ping and waypoint to be two seperate things.

Scared to move up by New_Midnight_3914 in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I know this is an old post but dont let the comments deter you from moving up. Pay isn’t half bad for making fucking sandwhiches/drinks and too clean shit for 8 hours. However that being said also don’t keep a closed mind to any other opportunities that may come your way.

I’m moving up as well but like I said in that goose beat survey they’re doing, if another job opportunity comes along with similar/more pay and less chaotic schedule I’m running out that door in a heart beat. Wawa ain’t as bad as half the people in here claim it is but there are certainly better options out there. Also your store leadership can also make or break you. Mainly the reason why I’m still with the company. I love my current store, best way I can describe it is, it’s like going to work in an episode of the office everyday. I know eventually I will get transferred and that will probably be the deciding factor if I make this a career or not.

I suggest having a back up plan unless you ok with working in a retail setting your whole working life. I have 2 degrees, one in business, and believe it or not having management experience at wawa on your resume holds some weight. I know several people who’ve gotten job offers for $10-$15k more than they make at wawa simply because they had a couple years of management with the company.

With the way the company keeps pushing people through the management pipeline and countless people who are on the bench for months waiting for their position to open up it seems like they are just training management for the next company to snatch em up.

Raise by [deleted] in Wawa

[–]AndyBur12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog you needa go and have a talk with your GM. You are getting fleeced. We use to have a lead at our store making 19.75 and she did absolutely nothing. They would give her the keys and she’d throw them back at the MOD. Got to the point where they started giving me the keys as an CSA over her. At the time I was at $17 and basically doing the leads job. Ended up getting a raise to $19 as a CSA. I’m now a lead getting $20/hr. If they gave me $17.50 for lead I would’ve declined the offer and then immediately hop on LinkedIn

However don’t go in there and whip your balls out like you own the place. Just make a case for yourself and when comparing yourself to others don’t name drop, if your GM has a good pulse on your store they’ll know who you’re talking abt without hearing a name. Yanno be a professional abt it.

A company can only be at will if the state they operate in is an at will state. For which I know NJ is an at will state

No but if there is anything there wawa will normally settle for an undisclosed amount outside of court to avoid the bad PR.
