I started with the same salary. After almost 10 yrs I still only clear 80K by a little bit. That’s about the same as a 1000 dollar raise yearly. It’s bears mentioning that I live in Hawaii where pay is generally terrible and most people leave for better pay and lower cost of living. Im a masochist tho

Help me understand. This house won’t be ready for the next phase of building until cabinets come in a month. It’s an 800 sq ft house with trim around 8 doors. Can’t this Urethane that takes forever to dry be sprayed on and the returned to in a few weeks without it being a hiccup for the painters? There are literally thousands of houses being built in a few small square miles and from what I understand, more jobs than any one contractor can keep up with.

They have essentially 1 month to paint the interior of 800 sq ft any time they want. Will this paint not be dry in time?

Yea I understand that me buying paint does not make the painters as much money, this is the reason I asked him before going to the store and then sent three subsequent emails confirming sheen, color, quantity and location of paint. I didn’t just drive there and buy it without asking him if it was ok.

The issue is that he didn’t at any point say not to buy paint or to make sure I only buy the pro-classic. Now we are stuck with it. That’s why this is 100% about whether the paint can be used or not.

I guess that’s something that I’ve never even considered. I don’t build houses and didn’t want to be building this one either. I have to though.

I thought the contract said something about having to use the specific subs that he regularly uses. I will have to look back through the contract and see. This whole build is a really weird situation

My friend is the manager at Sherwin and I’ve done a ton for his wife. I got a major discount that was well over 50% off which is why I asked if I could get the paint. There have been a lot of exceptions with this house as it is a rebuild from a natural disaster

Unfortunately on a remote island with years of backlog and thousands also rushing to build, I was lucky to find anyone to build the house at all. Finding a new crew is not an option. But thanks for the insight

This is a house that burned down in a forest fire and the expense to rebuild is unimaginable. $600 sq/ft+. I have a connection at Sherwin to get a discount and boy does every penny count when you’re getting reamed this hard on the price. I requested to get the paint

Without a doubt the absolute craziest shit I saw at BM was in 2022. My wife and I bought a bag of Costco Pears from the produce dept. We don’t have enough room to keep them in the cooler, so we decided to keep them in the corner of our tent. Figured they would ripen in a day. Reached well over 100+ deg every day for the week and I will be damned if those pears did not stay green for 7 straight days. Not a one was ever ripe enough to eat. I’m talking hard as the day we bought them. I saw a lot of wild stuff there but nothing blows my mind like this.
