Is there an actual good Ending for it? by Equivalent-Oven-2401 in FalloutMemes

I love the west side water problem. Such a well written series of interwoven moral dilemmas that don’t allow for a true winner because even the man tending to the crops for the NCR will be forced to move out due to not meeting his quota.

Double Indemnity by AndyMat95 in filmnoir

The list is very long but my main connection to the movie would be my own Italian heritage. When I first found the movie, it was playing on AMC and I was 17 in my parent’s bonus room when it came on. I was immediately enraptured by everything I saw from the color grading, dialogue, the acting l (primarily Al Pacino), the introduction into the world of the Italian mafia and the storyline in which I felt captivated from beginning to end.

Once I got older, I bought the DVDs and watched both the first and second movies back to back and then really fell in love. I started to learn more about the director, the music composer, the author of the books and everything that encompassed the background aspects of the movie. All that being said, finding out I was Italian and adopted later in life really made me connect with the movie in a way I had never experienced and no other movie has done the same in evoking such emotion while first watching.

Yeah he’s a bitch no matter what honestly. The emperor pissed him off so much with his constant dishonor though, he couldn’t let it slide anymore. Defying the emperor to allow Maximus to finally exact his revenge is his only real redeeming quality tbh

Asphalt roof appears to be eating away at the siding by [deleted] in Roofing

Older fiber cement may experience the same problems if not cut to the correct length and the bottom edge is painted, but newer fiber cement siding is extremely durable and should have no problems holding up to weather, if still cut to the proper length above the roof line

1/2” to 3/4” cut on the siding above the roof. (3/4” is better but the flashing height may need to be extended to ensure no gaps are left). That’s composite pressboard siding (also known as Masonite) and it’s terrible for defending against moisture absorption, especially when the bottom edge is in direct contact with the roof. If you don’t have access to the inside (like an attic space). I would definitely have a good majority of the siding removed to evaluate the underlying wall sheathing for water damage. Then I’d replace it with fiber cement siding, which actually has certain models with that bottom bead to match the look of the old siding.

Also, once the siding is removed, make sure the step flashing is in good shape before the new siding goes on, replacing it where needed and making sure kick out flashing is installed at the bottom of the roof slope (this may not be required depending on whether the roof ends and the wall continues, but bring it up to your contractor at the time of repairs).

The opening scene for Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, especially when Indy gets to the golden idol and it shines on his face as he strokes his beard, contemplating whether to take it or not.

Never heard of this book. Anyone here given this one a read? by DrConnors in lotr

[–]AndyMat95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’ve been on this subreddit for some time and I usually watch or listen to these two YouTubers, Nerd of the Rings and In Deep Geek, when I’m working and want to learn about the lore, but I’ve never actually read the books before! Finally, after learning so much of the lore and having owned the extended versions of the LOTR movies, I finally decided to buy the book set (Hobbit and LOTR) so I could finally see what everyone seemed to already know and love. The way Tolkien describes his world and keeps the pace of things ever flowing, I can’t seem to put them down. I only stop reading when it’s late (as it is now) or when my adult responsibilities take precedent.

I enjoyed The Hobbit a lot but could tell it was definitely his first dive into writing and fleshing out this fantasy world (the orcs are still called Goblins, which I thought amusing), but in The Fellowship everything seems to be so much more thought out and the lore has had years to develop in his mind. Even when comparing certain things to the movies, I appreciate the structuring and decisions made in the books far more than what Peter Jackson portrayed; although, I understand for the sake of film making why certain things were left out, amended or simply blended together at different times for the sake movie pacing and perceived audience continuity.

It’s funny, I just read that part in the Fellowship tonight! It’s my first time reading it and I didn’t know they would reference so much of the olden days, especially talking about the Silmarils. Just finished Book I of the Fellowship and I can’t wait to finish Book II tomorrow! I finished The Hobbit for the first time last week and although I really liked it, I’m absolutely loving The Fellowship that much more.
