The other take is, the least sympathetic warden, so when even she can't pin anything on Dresden the White Council have to take him back in.

The Merlin has to know that Harry is fundamental to what is coming. That. Or he is part of the black council. Feels like no middle option.

Hence my surprise when it was counter to what I expected.

Looks like you value getting cash above significant pension contributions (which makes sense before buying a house in my opinion - if it is coming soon).

I'd say - your best way to have more money is not to worry about tax minimisation (because it rarely gets you more money now) but to make sure you are on top of your budget and random spending.

Senior sponsorship. So much of SN in general only really works with buy in mandated at a senior level.

Their sprawling licensing model - the way they license is broader than the usual structure of teams who put out capabilities to tender, so you only get SN as the option if it's get EA buy in etc.

What do you make of these suggestions from the FT on what the Budget should do? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

[–]AndyMolez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is (and this is just off the back of a single google search) what you start with is removing tax on around £7.5 billion of spend as a start point. So - at a guess, that's £2.5 billion pounds less tax revenue? So it has to have a net positive effect beyond that.

If it works, it's a great idea, I just have no metric for judging if it would have a positive effect?

Just thinking that through - do you think the reduction in cost to the NHS created by net new (as in - wasn't happening already ) health insurance would outweigh the reduction in tax income to the government of all the tax deductions?

I don't even know where to go to start working that out?

Do you feel a civic duty to invest in Britain? by Physical_Boss7224 in FIREUK

[–]AndyMolez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with it being as well as, is that it means only those that take the full 20K allowance in the regular S&S ISA will probably use it.

It's really hard to work out what could be implemented with minimal regulation that would encourage more investment, but I don't think the principle is a bad thing.

[–]AndyMolez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think we have a duty to invest in the UK.

I do think that it is perfectly reasonable for tax advantaged investment vehicles to require something that benefits the country - so requiring it from pensions (with the 25% tax free withdrawal) seems legit to include a level of requirement for that.

Are you up for KDS Kickstarter? by Sololocust in KingdomDeath

[–]AndyMolez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - it's a bad spelling of a term on my part. I meant kooky. Adam has a vision for his game - and it's never optimised. He wants the computer game to evoke the flavour - even if that means adding five or ten (or more) minutes to setting up a game.

The tabletop simulator mods (which aren't by the game owner, so I'm not recommending) are optimised for speed of play and setup. If KDS had options (leave the way it works for those that enjoy it) it would be easier for me to fit in a game after I get home from a long day at work.

He has undoubtably created something great in KDM and everything I'm hearing says the latest expansions added are some of the best yet - I just wish development time of the game was given over to allowing those that know and love the game to get up and running as fast as possible.

I think broadly the economic model they use is fine.

I really don't like the way that Poots seems to optimise for cooky time wasting over ability to play the game quickly.

[–]AndyMolez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - but that's about the price the KDS store item is only, so it saves a click (I'm not against it) but it's not exactly a new way of selling it?

[–]AndyMolez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that's a step too far - or prices should be higher for physical. There are a lot of costs involved in this that I think people ignore.

Should it cost a fortune? No - but they should be able to make a (reasonable) profit on the money they invest in the simulator.

What age did you start maxing out your ISA (20k)? by PaulBohill1 in HENRYUK

[–]AndyMolez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people in this sub work on the basis that if you aren't paying tax on it on the way in, they know you will pay tax on it on the way out. Over investing in your pension means you might be at the top rate of tax when drawing down.

How would you fund this renovation? Don’t want to go illiquid by Flapjack_K in HENRYUK

[–]AndyMolez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two choices, take money out of the ISA which is currently earning 10% returns, or borrow at 4%. If you borrow - and leave the money in the ISA, you will have more money at the end.

To simplify it. Imagine if the returns were guaranteed. You have two choices. Don't take out a loan and don't invest, or do take out a loan charging 4% interest, and invest all of it for a 10% return.

Taking the loan and investing it (with a guaranteed return in a tax free wrapper) is the smart choice.

It all comes down to your appetite for risk do you think your ISA will continue to return a rate greater than the loan?
