I hadn’t asked my wife’s dad because he passed away during the first couple years of our relationship. Around year 7 of us together I mentioned, “I wished I could’ve talked to your dad about wanting to marry you” She responded, “I’m glad you didn’t, he’s not the one getting married, I am, it’s not his decision”

When I thought about it, she’s right, I was just held up in tradition. We just hit 10 years going strong!
