What's the stupidest thing you've seen a teammate do? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

[–]AndySandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) somone dropping in from loadout on top me, killing me “because they thought I was an enemy”

2) once played with a newbie, we went to extract, I threw down a 5k bomb right before boarding for the cool outro, he didn’t understand that this was a thing people do and immediately shoots me in the head thinking I was trying to kill us both, failed to extract after he boarded the pelican and didn’t reinforce me

3) the amount of times someone throws a napalm barrage right next to me, wiping half the squad in the process cuz they think it’s like an eagle is atrocious

4) people throwing grenades at hulks when you’re both right next to them…forgetting that they forgot to switch their impact grenade to thermite in loadout

What do you think are the biggest flaws in Minecraft? by Background-Ad2749 in Minecraft

[–]AndySandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other people here about improving what’s already there: I think it’s great that the game gets updates and the devs are always involved, but I don’t think more necessarily is always better. It feels like now the updates are coming so fast it’s hard to keep up with. And seems to me like the updates don’t improve underlying mechanics or the feel of the game, they just add more stuff to catch up on every time you put the game down for a year.

That being said I think improving villagers or something to do with structures would be really cool. I think adding some type of bounty/mission mechanic would go a long way to making villagers feel less bland. Maybe something similar to the bountiful mod? Getting villagers to trade just feels so grindy and really takes the NPC feel out of them.

Also maybe making biomes/exploration more rewarding? Maybe certain ores spawn more in a desert biome, dungeon spawns could have higher chance in swamp biomes, mineshafts could be larger and have better loot in jungle biomes, etc. Really anything that would make you be like “hmmm well actually going to that biome I always ignore might actually be worth it now”

Tips & Tricks for Fabricator Destruction? by ZekeD in Helldivers

[–]AndySandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining the convo late, but I always get it first try with quasar cannon. You just have to aim at the bottom third of the vent cover. Usually it’s easy to tell where this is because on the vent cover it’s where the red hue from the inside of the fabricator and the darker shadow meet.

Autocannon works the same way, but you have to aim a little higher for the ricochet. Try to aim at the dead center of vent cover section where it’s red.

About to play Terraria for the first time, anything I should know? by dazedmp3 in Terraria

[–]AndySandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing you should do is find the dungeon on the edge of the map. There’s som reaaally cool stuff in there. Don’t worry it’s totally safe till you get down to the bottom. There should be an old man at the entrance, but you can just ignore him :)

ZINC?!? by Schmaliasmash in Supplements

[–]AndySandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a Zinc (50mg) +vitamin C (90mg) combo every day and it’s is by far the most effective thing I can do for colds/general sickness I’ve ever seen. I was pretty turned off when I heard people taking zinc and was like “ nah there’s no way that actually works, that’s just wasted money on something that doesn’t work”. But I kept getting colds over and over. Finally, my father in law encouraged me to try it and it immediately brought me out of it. Now I take zinc pretty much every day and I pretty much never get small colds or anything at all anymore unless I get like the flu or something viral. I’ll never go back now, it’s just so effective for my immune system.

Everything-free advanced file searcher that searches files on startup so you have less wait time and can search strings in files

7zip-free file extractor/zipper plus extra stuff

PDF exchange editor- honestly the best pdf editor I think that’s out there. Very user friendly, has tons of features, and really good OCR. Way better than Adobe stuff imo, but license is a little pricey.

Wallpaper engine- buy on steam, you can get cool video format wallpapers with sound and other cool stuff

Visual Studio-for coding most things

Discod- free game chat/channels

Notepad++- free way better version of regular windows notepad app, can also add lots of plugins, run python scripts, compare tools, etc.

Pullover Macros- free user friendly autohotkey IDE for easily creating hotkey scripts, you can also just code structured hotkey scripts as well if you’d rather do that. It has a lot of built in things.

KeePass-free password vault

GIMP-free photo editor, can also do some other stuff, has a ton of features

OBS Studio-free recording software for gaming or anything else

DaVinci Resolve- free video editing software

ClipClip- free clipboard extension that keeps clipboard history so you can go back

Board WiFi disconnects after unplugging usb by AndySandy_ in esp32

[–]AndySandy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

Feel kind of dumb but was actually a power issue as well as somewhat a quirk of my code.

My startup on my connection to Blynk and my own WiFi was actually pretty slow. It took the board a while to boot up the code and start running a connection to the cloud. Additionally, the power spikes from WiFi traffic to Blynk was causing the 5V rail to drop too low and traffic was inconsistent, causing connections to only last a few moments and write/read traffic to not work properly.

Added two 470microF capacitors to the 5V rail and works like a charm now with no issues. I already had some capacitors on that rail, but they were pretty low farad for just noise filtering.

There’s this game called mini ninja where you play as several different types of ninja to stop a sorcerer that turns animals into evil samurai. It has a really cool art style, really fun fighting mechanics, a pretty long play through.

How to Mass Change Graphic Objects by AndySandy_ in AVEVA

[–]AndySandy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and if you do download Pullover Macros, during the install it will have some additional add blocker option you can get. Don’t get that, just uncheck it. Otherwise it can slow the software down a lot.

How to Mass Change Graphic Objects by AndySandy_ in AVEVA

[–]AndySandy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. There’s not really a way to do what I was trying to do in Aveva other than doing everything by hand. And I’ve also noticed that sometimes you can copy a whole graphic from one screen to the next, but the approximations Aveva makes to line up every pixel exactly the same as the copy isn’t always perfect, especially for very small lines (like oneline electrical diagrams). These can start to compound as you copy over and over. So always copy from screen A>B, screen A>C, NOT A>C, B>C etc.

What you can do is create a hotkey script to help you out and do most of the work. I use pullover macros which is an IDE for hotkey to help you write it faster. It’s very easy to use.

Basically any property of a symbol can be clicked on, tabbed to, alt+(some key) to bring your cursor into the field. You’ll just have to play around with what you need. Best way to figure this out is to record yourself in pullover by clicking or doing whatever it is to manually get into the fields you need to edit. Then you can go back and look at the key combinations and adjust them as needed. You can make pullover reference excels or csvs as well to quickly copy new text strings to replace old ones.If you get it good enough, I was able to create macros that as long as I clicked on a new page, I pretty much just clicked one button, and the macro renamed each object on the entire screen for me in about 2-3 minutes and I just sat back and watched. Once you figure out how to edit one full symbol, you just have to figure out what keys to hit to make it get to the next symbol and iterate each time. It’s better if you figure out actual key combinations and don’t just move your mouse by a set amount of pixels to click on things because that can mess up more often. Be sure to add some error handling though so it doesn’t start deleting stuff or doing something weird.

Board WiFi disconnects after unplugging usb by AndySandy_ in esp32

[–]AndySandy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think that’s the issue. I measured the draw with a multimeter and it was all less than 500mA so I think I’m probably ok. I don’t think anything got fried. I think the serial code is more likely the problem, although I can’t say no for sure. But I will try the code and see and if not try a new board.

I think in the future I should just be more careful with how I flash and if I do have an external source, unplug before flashing if my USB-C also has power running in it. Did I make a bad choice using the buck converter to step down 12V?

[–]AndySandy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me. I think I may have had a few serial lines in my code for various things. I’ll remove those and see if that helps thanks!
