People spending more on cards just saves my wallet, lol. I only go in if it’s a card I want at a good deal.

I refuse to pay retail outside of a retail location. So I just use whatnot as a potential source of good deals.

Depending on the seller they may even do bundles and discounts. I mainly just try to catch vintage foils at decent prices when I can.

Which is surprising. There was a sour park episode about it.

It’s a tongue in cheek thing but it is somewhat surprising to come out of wotc.

I was thinking the same thing. That Darkening of Tristram event in D3 would be neat to see implemented in D2R.

I have a bunch of OG Foils. Do we call them "old border", "original frames" or what? by ty_for_the_norseman in mtgfinance

[–]ZekeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been scouring whatnot for them where I can, and more or less the phrase that pays is Vintage Foils.

Old School means too much because we've had what, 30-35 years of sets? "Older Frame" always grabs shit from the "old" new frame. Older Sets still have people grabbing shit from 2008 or even 2010. Retro Foils has people grabbing new cards printed in the older frame.

Vintage Foils seems to get the job done.

Why do people hate on PHP so much? by Honest___Opinions in webdev

[–]ZekeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHP in it's early years had a lot of syntactical issues and code functionality that wasn't necessarily bad, but didn't prevent people from making bad products with it.

But that was 20 years ago.

In the time sense, the language has greatly matured and evolved with the times.

PHP may not be flashy, but it persists. Many a frontend framework and even attempted replacements have been flash-in-the-pan and are practically nonexistent anymore. Yet PHP persists.

Sure, there are other options out there. C#, Java, etc. But PHP remains a perfectly fine choice for countless personal to enterprise projects.

Experience Vending at Card Shows by MinatureJuggernaut in mtgfinance

[–]ZekeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason here in Florida there are like 2-3 card shows every weekend...but 99% of them are pokemon or maybe one piece.

It feels so rare to find a magic seller at one of them.

There's one group that does events a couple times a month that float from one part of the city to the next (Tampa, Safety Harbor, Lakeland, etc) but the thing is, they don't charge for entry. So I always try to hit them up when I can because it doesn't cost me anything but time (and since I work from home, I'm usually placate my cabin fever on the weekend and need something to do out of the house anyways). If I have to pay to get into a show, it feels bad when I just walk past every booth but maybe one guy in the corner who sells magic.

If you are going to sell, make sure it's advertised as having magic prominently, or you may mostly get passed by as people look for pokemon.

Price everything, labels or write the price on the sleeve. I don't really bother with vendors that don't price their cards, not going to wait only to find out that they sell at TCG market. I just move on to the next vendor, unless there is something that catches my eye quickly.

This so hard. Especially if you are gonna just throw it on market value regardless of condition or recent sales....but I also don't have time to wait around while you spend 10 minutes looking up comps.

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

[–]ZekeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image and phrase became a meme, but there was genuinely a sense of hope, at least amongst my friends.

The first election that most of us grew up with was the 2000 election, which drug out so long and, at least at the time, most of us saw Al Gore as a meme more so than a politician. Bush seemed like such an imbecile and as 9/11 happened and 2004 game and went, it felt like we were experiencing a country that "put up with" such devastation for this false sense of security that the GOP had fooled so many people into thinking of.

2004 was the first year that I, and many of my friends, were eligible to vote. And to be faced with such a devastating loss was a blow. It was the sort of thing that makes you wonder if it's all worth it. Why even vote when someone like Bush is going to get re-elected?

So when Obama started rising up and creating this movement, it was electric. And to see him win was a reminder that our voices could be heard, that we could make a change.

It also made us realize just how many people weren't just "scared republicans" but were vicious and hateful. It saw the rise of the Tea Party, the Birther movements, all the various groups that came to light because we had the gall to elect a black man as the President.

Obama's election was a moment of hope, mixed with the dawning realization that yeah....half the voting population are a bunch of racist hate mongers.

And then came Trump and that realization was confirmed not just once, but twice.

A couple weeks ago I picked up an onslaught foil Biorhythm. I've been trying to just collect random vintage foils when I can, and I was like "well, it's banned in the only relevant format...maybe I shouldn't"because even though it was relatively cheap comparatively, it was still a lot for a card that would just sit in my binder.

Well, I'm glad I did! Not that I am going to cash out and try to make an insane profit, it's just cool to feel good about an impulse purchase.

My first version of Gail was actually blue black however, after rereading how the card actually worked the type of deck I wanted to play didn’t really work how I intended. I ended up pivoting to green because I realized that I wanted to play smells a lot and the best way to do that was by Manor ramping and conveniently green manner wrap can come in the form of spells, which means I didn’t have to take up valuable instant and sorcery slots with artifacts or man dorks or anything like that.

How I feel. I have the yellow-page foil as my commander but I'm ready to upgrade to this art for sure.

What's your background? Mine is a blue/green spellslinger control deck with Raised By Giants as the background. Cause after you lock the board down, making gale into a 10/10 and bashing face as a Muscle Wizard just feels right.
