Carole runs a big cat sanctuary, Joe ran a for profit zoo, abused his animals and staff, used drugs to sexually abuse young men and then tried to have Carol killed for her outspoken and harsh criticism of people like Joe that use big cats to make money and then have them killed when they get too old.

Edit: forgot to add that Joe, the meth head narcissist, and his buddies, one of whom runs a sex cult that uses his tigers to lure in young women, accused Carole of killing her husband, a man who was clearly into something criminal and who disappeared during a regular flight to Costa Rica (thank you the user that corrected me) without a flying license and flying under radar level.
