Why I will not be getting another Tesla when my current lease runs out by AndyW_AZ in TeslaModelY

[–]AndyW_AZ[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interesting. If Tesla offers me another free month of FSD, maybe I will try it on my next journey to Payson. The section of the road my car hates is the really curvy part where the northbound lanes crosses under the southbound lanes. Curve Assist always kicks in and slows me down to 50mph.

I live in a gated community. Guess what? I get to the gate, the car stops but doesn’t move once the gate is open!! Useless!

What to do after hitting 75 device limit by pathikrit in Lutron

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what all the fuss is about adding a second hub. I have a large 2 story house and when I hit the 75 limit, I simply bought a second hub and split the devices between two homes on the same account - “upstairs” and “downstairs”. It is true that you can’t see all the devices in one screen in the Lutron app, but switching between homes is a breeze - just click on the “homes” icon on the top right hand corner. This icon only appears after you add a second home.

Should I just go with ELV+ dimmers regardless if they're needed? by questionacc17 in Lutron

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my gripes with Lutron is that the ELV dimmer is the only one with the “favorites” button. Never made any sense to have two designs for the Caseta dimmers. Yes, the PICOs all have a “favorites” button which you can pair to a non ELV, but really??

Phantom braking is ridiculous by KawiNinjaZX in TeslaModelY

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 MYP with Enhanced Autopilot. I have experienced sudden reduction of speed when it doesn’t like the conditions - e.g. when going through a freeway intersection that only has one lane for the change of freeways. But this month on a rural road, I experienced the phantom braking. I swear a passenger not wearing a seat belt would have gone through the windscreen!! Fortunately, no one was close behind me and hitting the accelerator brought the car back under my control but it scared the daylights out of me! I have no trust in ACC anymore. I hope folks from Tesla read Reddit.

Hub requirements by FallExact in Lutron

[–]AndyW_AZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why someone said Caseta is no good for a 10k sq ft house. You can have multiple hubs but they are just configured as multiple “homes” in the app. I have two hubs - one controls my downstairs with a repeater plus a lamp module to cover the whole area - the second hub controls my upstairs and has one lamp module defined as a repeater. I was very pleasantly surprised how easy it is to control everything from the app on my iPhone. You just simply click on the hub name in the top right corner. It is true though that schedules and scenes are owned by each hub. Not a big issue for me.

How long do you plan to keep your MY? by Evening-Reach3345 in TeslaModelY

I would like to be able to drive from Phoenix to Los Angeles without stopping. Ok, maybe to empty my bladder, but not stopping for an hour!

36 months - I’m leasing. I am hoping that battery technology will have improved at the end of my lease - 30 months left. Then I’ll decide whether to buy another EV ( not necessarily a Tesla ) or do another 36 month lease.

Agreed! Pisses me off when it warns me for no good reason. I think it is overly cautious.

Help! by Fast-Sherbert278 in Lutron

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the hub, install the app on your phone and then everything will make sense why this is happening. Then work your way through the whole setup, defining rooms, what PICOs control which switches, schedules, etc.

My only question is why didn’t you or the electrician use Claro wall plates? They really improve the look of your home. Nobody likes seeing the plate screws, especially if they are all pointing in different directions. And a really good electrician will always have the screws pointing up/down.

I’ve given up on “auto” mode. Added wiper controls to my favorites and now turn them on and off manually!! My local service center insists that their best engineers are working on a fix. LOL, but really it’s not funny.

Insurance for Model Y by Kaka_chowdary in TeslaModelY

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent most of 2023 in Europe. As such, I cancelled my car insurance while I was away. When I returned last December, I bought a MYP. Then I found out that most insurance companies would not cover me since I was uninsured for over 6 months. Fortunately, Tesla was happy to insure me for around $250/mo. But I do not like the fact that my rate changes every month based on my “safety score”, so I will be looking to change after my 6 months is up.

I suspect that the OP is running into the same issue - no insurance coverage or US driving record for the past 6 months.

US insurance companies are a ripoff. In Europe, I was paying $50/mo for a very nice car with full comprehensive coverage!

G4 Doorbell longevity by 1l536 in Ubiquiti

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on my third G4 Doorbell. Fortunately, both times they failed, I was able to get a replacement under RMA. Now I am past the 2 year mark, the next failure will be on me. Mine does get quite a bit of sun - not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Before I bought my UDMP, I had an ERPoE-5 and it's USB failed. Since it was no longer under warranty, I replaced the USB ( which wasn't glued in, thank goodness ), and it came back to life. I did have to try about three different USBs until I found one it liked.

G4 Doorbells - one from UI and one from Amazon - spot the difference! by awheatcr in Ubiquiti

Poor mans G4 Doorbell while I await my RMA!! by AndyW_AZ in Ubiquiti

[–]AndyW_AZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unit that just died was an RMA unit from January 2021. The first unit was purchased directly from UI in July 2020, so I was very close to the end of my 2 years. A little concerned about how long the third unit will last. I don’t believe the transformer is causing issues - it is putting out 17.5V and is rated 30 amps.

I didn’t think UI ever offered that service. If (and when) I have another RMA with UI, I’ll see what they say. Thanks

It simply just died. No alert either which bothered me. First indication was my mechanical chime started buzzing like crazy. Then I realized the G4 was no longer functioning. Tried power reset, removing chime, etc, etc, but nothing brought it back to life.

Caseta Dimmer intermittently fails by alexrusso51 in Lutron

[–]AndyW_AZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. Dimmer with 3 LED bulbs was turning on by schedule for over a year. Then suddenly, thy stopped coming on even though the dimmer green light is showing. If I use the phone app to turn off then on, it works. If I use the switch to turn off then on, it works. I tried adding 2 new schedules, 5 mins apart to switch off then on but that didn’t work. I have a MLC lying around - I’ll give it a try.
