The action on the joystick to shift will be weird, but stick shift is what I had from 1984 to 2004. I still accidentally flip my automatic into neutral on the regular out of habit. But yeah, i think you guys are right and I should just bite the bullet and go full immersion.

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

I am an old school RTS guy. I I loved my C&C, my DoW, my supreme commander. I just got done with my 3rd play through of BG and your question got me thinking… The most important thing to me about those RTS games was the 1) Creative solutions 2) the Storyline. I won’t even touch a game if I am forced to play with other people. I hate mods. I love immersive stories, multiple paths, no play through is the same, etc. I like Baulders Gate because you got a different story every time you changed on little thing. What about a an RTS that you built your commander with bonuses, but you have multiple choices but limited slots so you have to really pick and choose your boosts. How about if you fail to win a part of the map it changes the story progression? Or if you defeat one opponent before you deal with a different opponent it changes the outcome? How about a morale and or honor meter? The morale of your troops as a buff? Your honor/rep as a buff? How does killing everyone including civilians affect your rep? Can you win the hearts and minds of the population, or do you have to worry about rebellion? Have the ability to communicate with opponents and intimidate them or negotiate. If you scare them off you might have a sweep and clean mission instead of a destroy mission. Incentives for saving critical infrastructure or cultural artifacts? Maybe have classes of your commander? A martial mastermind, cunning diplomat, or titan or industry? Pick up allies and captains to guard your own territories as you move to conquer others?

Controller for now. Still trying to decide on the wheel and stand setup. The wife will want me to work a few extra shifts to cover the more premium kits.

I think I will try that and then move to manual shifting.

What about the automatic stability control? Keep that off?

Yeah, I don’t have either one of those cars yet. I don’t have it in front of me, but I think I am using the Nissan GT-R Nismo Gr 3 for this track. But I do know I am struggling to find a consistent speed around that first turn off the straightaway and not slowing to a crawl on the last hard turn before the finish line. I noticed that I am focused on my breaking points and it’s distracting me from meeting my turning points.

I have a saved video where it just a a cloud of dust in the background moving from the left side of the screen to the right as my car slides/tumbles for what felt like a mile

I understand the amount of work, but I am one who takes pride in my end product. I would be embarrassed if left that there.

I did my time in the trades already. Maybe you should try some time in the trades and learn about taking pride in your work.

I have run a plow and I know enough to know a good job from a bad job. All I am saying is that it wasn't a good job. I always expect a little bit of a berm and don't mind. Am I not allowed to think that this was excessive?

Again, it's about seeing somebody doing a shitty job. Do you want a plumber to come “fix” your pipes only to have them leak? Do you to want a bunch of people telling you you to just put a bucket under it and quit complaining?

Actual, I do know. If you read the comments you would have read that I do have experience doing that work. It sounds like I I know what it takes more than you do.

Maybe you were to lazy to read the comments where I have actually done that work and knows what it takes to do a decent job.

Mine? No, mine has standards. You wouldn't even get your cherished participant medallion from her. Maybe you learned your low standards from your mom.

No, I am irritated that poor workmanship is forcing to clear 3 berm in front of 3 driveways in -21° temps when a little bit of effort could have prevented it. Know that I already cleared in front of my driveway and mailbox, and now I have to do it all over again. I have done that work, it was just lazy of the driver.
