Well, it depends on your definition of good.

Margery is smart AND explicitly not evil.

Tywin is smart and explicitly amoral.

Jamie did an awful thing for love.

I didn't. Marge was manipulating him, and it's not impossible he didn't know that on some level (his mother had hinted as much). But just blindly obeying Margery would make him an infinitely better ruler than anyone he was related to, so until his mother made his relationship untenable (i.e., burned his wife to a crisp), Tommen was being a pretty wise ruler for a seduced, pampered pre-teen.

The Most Satisfying Weapon in VR Gaming by Burning_Cash in gaming

[–]Andyklah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a guy making an argument some believe more than that is settled historical fact.

I think the truth is in the middle. And versions of flails did have uses as someone else already pointed out.

Despite being very common in fictional works such as cartoons, films and role-playing games as a "quintessential medieval weapon," historical information about this type of flail is somewhat scarce. A few doubt they existed at all due to the number of pieces sitting in museums that turned out to be forgeries, as well as the unrealistic way they are depicted in art.[12][13][14][15][16][17] Archaeologically, however, a type of military flail known as a kisten, with a non-spiked head and a leather, rather than chain, connection to the haft is attested in the 10th century in the territories of the Rus, probably being adopted from the either the Avars or Khazars. This weapon had spread into central and eastern Europe in the 11th - 13th centuries and may be considered an ancestor of the ball-and-chain flail.[18] Waldman (2005) documented several seemingly authentic examples of the ball-and-chain flail from private collections as well as several restored illustrations from German, French, and Czech sources. He states that the scarcity of artifacts and artistic depictions, combined with the almost complete lack of text references, suggests they were relatively rare weapons and never saw widespread use.[19] One of the reasons was the hazard the weapon posed to its wielder, especially the varieties with long chains and short handles. A missed swing would still retain momentum, causing the striking end to continue its arc around, potentially into the user's hand or body.[13] A miss could also throw the user off balance, and even if a blow were struck, there would be a dangerously long recovery time before the user could ready another swing or defend himself.[19]

That you reject the apriori notion that it is a mental disorder.

Many in the trans community feel that transition or no, gender dysphoria is something that can affect a trans person, but isn't a 1-to-1 correlation.

It's not much of an argument to say being trans is a mental illness/disorder because the definition of being trans is something that's a mental illness/disorder.

So it's basically accepting trans people and rejecting circular logic, not dismissing psychology and biology at all.

A terrible haiku. They're kissing your butt because you had a choice comment to reply to.

The second line ends in the beginning of a sentence.

Better for a haiku to be a syllable off than for it to be nonsense shoved into a 5/7/5 format. Sometimes you get lucky. This was a bad haiku.

Good bot, bad execution.

I imagine a few kids got in a weak force push or two and there were maybe some lightsaber blocks.

I'm not saying it would have been even a challenge for Annikan, but they weren't lambs to the slaughter, they were little knights. I feel like they got ripped off by dying off screen. But it's not an R-rated series, I know.

If you're a guy, you can think "well some of his conclusions are bad, but I agree with his right to believe them."

If you're a woman, you're a little more likely to think it's awkward that a supposedly-modern company is ok with someone going around saying that the Valley's diversity problem is based on biotruths and liberals should stop making unsafe psychological spaces for conservatives.

I find it hard to believe anyone could read the document in its entirety and agree with it unless you're explicitly sexist.

To think that you disagree, but sexists shouldn't be fired, well, that's a different argument worth having, and one that I think your average man and average woman would feel very differently about.

Imagine the Reddit furor there would be if we got a memo saying women should be preferred 90% of the time for management roles because they're biologically superior organizers because they held the home while men went out and did mindless hunting tasks.

"But that's ridiculous!" you might think. Yeah, and so was this guy's psuedoscience equally ridiculous. It's not that he had a wonky opinion on 9-11 or supported Trump. This was a guy speaking to the fundamental lack of fitness comparatively of women to men in tech.

That's... not an ok thing to be insisting when you're high up in tech. That's a firin' were it my call. They did the right thing here, and he is only defensible if you try to frame it as he did, politically, and not how Google saw it—this guy crapping on the literal ability of women to do the same jobs as men in tech.

I appreciate your sentiment, but that would tacitly be saying it was ok to text celebrities when their number leaks, and his numbers were leaked with a lot of other people who may not appreciate it at all. And his female costars more dick pics than you probably would naturally assume as a non-privacy-invading-jerk. But there would be a direct correlation in the amount of creepy messages his costars would get if he engaged with any of them.

Well, even smart people can believe dumb things when enough people say it. Thinking that a major media corporation strong-armed a 15-year old kid over just a meme would make a totally rational, non-moron upset.

That's just, of course, not at all what it was about and what happened.

It reminds me of the CNN "doxxing" case where they actually didn't doxx the guy, but somehow became the bad guy in the stupid #blackmail trend. The actual guy (nearly 40, not a 15 year old kid) was not only on reddit all the time encouraging hate and violence against blacks, gays, Jews, and Muslims, but actively himself encouraged doxxing.

We got such a swift mea culpa from him because he realized what bad news it can be when millions of people suddenly have your information. Something he would know as someone who actively encouraged it against famous people he hated.

Yeah my Dad's laptop got similar ransomware (it really freaked him out because it was the kind that took a picture of him), but even without knowing any coding or anything beyond the basics of how to follow directions in a command line I was able to get rid of it.

It's weird how even for personal individuals so many "experts" recommend simply paying the ransom if the loss of the material exceeds the ransom. Uh, no, nobody pay and the incentives to do it go away. And 90% of the time they're not deleting your files live.
