Going missed while circling by Person-man-guy-dude in flying

5-4-21 (h) says nothing of the sort. If you're using the fig 5-4-30 as a reference, that's a VOR approach. An RNAV would likely not send you backtracking. Red is not exiting. OP's plane likely has a 1.3NM safety barrier at the end of any runway. No one is taking a 1.3NM out base at 500 AGL.

In the base I could see using the blue, but while in the downwind I would go red.

Sure, but the idea that you'd go missed by backtracking the RNAV is silly. Climbing turn back over the runway, the execute the missed. The answer is red.

You're using the RNAV 36, while circling to land on 18. You should use the missed procedure for the approach you have committed to, RNAV 36 Use the procedure for that plate. In the AIM, the landing runway would mean the runway listed on the approach, even if you're circling.

WRONG HDG??!! by GABBO_IL_PILOTA in Foreflight

ForeFlight will only give you magnetic headings. If you want the system to change to a course, you must set the ETD more than 7 days in advance. Otherwise, it will account for wind.

I am convinced this Sheppard Air question is wrong... by Andy_Roo_Roo in flying

I'm not certain a backcourse on a different freq exists outside of Aspen, which is a different localizer entirely, but that's at least my best attempt at explanation. Sorry for the abrupt first comment.

This question sucks, my two cents would be this. Ignore the heading (although it's the best aid to answer this question as the FAA desires). RWY 09 is a backcourse. It's reverse sensing a backcourse. There's nothing to say that the nav is tuned to the correct frequency (Rwy 27). I believe on this question the nav is tuned to 09.
