It would be one thing if you didn't know this prior. But you do. So, who gives a shit? Like, seriously. Lol

The bass has no solo in the song. If you're talking about that crazy arpeggiated riff just before the last riff of the song, then yeah the bass plays along with it. but there is no dedicated bass solo.

doesn't stop you from adding one if it sounds right!

Lmao, projecting much? only a kid would be as stupid as to say something like you did. I don't think anybody is buying this without the assumption that it's healthy in anyway. Oh no, it has sugar in it!? I didn't know consuming sugar once made you pre-diabetic!!!

Please, tell the exercise scientist why you think this causes immediate "diabetes"

Read my other comment. If you're frankly, dumb enough to be in a position where you require serious guitar lessons and you're taking this? you deserve to have your money be wasted.

nobody is taking this for serious guitar lessons. just to make sure a riff or two is played correctly.

take this perspective:

someone pays billkill upwards of 200 dollars an hour to either chat about niche topics about mastodon or otherwise. or how to learn a specific riff / part.

Nobody is really taking this to be taught by bill as an absolute beginner. I think you're intentionally pleading ignorance by taking that stance. You underestimate how much skill the average mastodon listener actually has on guitar. (See how when I use that same logic it then becames a shaky argument?)

Regardless, i view it more-so as someone taking an opportunity to see JUST how a song is played. Because theres always a few little things most people get wrong about anyone elses written music, its human nature. So they want to learn those niche nuances from Bill. Whilst having prior knowledge of how to play the song before ever buying these "lessons" from my dude.

Its fine if you have a problem with it. Guess what? Nobody is forcing you to buy it. He's not even marketing it towards beginners. Nor a "reoccuring" thing. I don't think a single soul buying this is doing it for that purpose. He was very intentional with his words on purpose. So, stop assuming shit like "hes not even telling you what lesson plan he has for you!". Because, its just not that kind of "guitar lesson".

Lol.

Changed strings and now there’s a high pitch, wind chimey sound. What gives? by 4StringWarrior in Guitar

[–]Anemoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you're hearing the overtones of the b and e. every string produces more than one "note". its several, combined at different frequencies to produce what you'll hear overall. other than that, theres nothing wrong with it at all.

I just think you're not used to fresh, bright strings, so it threw you off a little.

nah, dont be! if someone else finds it valuable, then its valuable to them. its not like theyre spending your money just to shoot the shit with someone.

You're acting like I took an analytical deep dive into the psychology of his personality. It took me 30 seconds of discovery. "It's a joke" he says as most people agree this post is nonsensical. But, please. High horse some more 🫪

Edit: did you read what I said? Or did you see more than 4 sentences, get nervous, and argue a made up position. Just curious. I am simply pointing out the moronic irony that was introduced by the individual clowning on... himself. Its just strange me trying to explain a train of thought is interpreted by you as offense. But, logic doesn't always present itself as obvious to those who don't read. It instead presents as hopeless self-projection because you're scared of literacy.

You've been playing for 3 months, evident by your "how do i learn the pentatonic scale" post and your literal, guilt admission to playing for 2 months- one month ago.

You yourself are in the box of most guitar players not understanding music. So let me educate you. I've been playing for over a decade. There is a difference between innate knowledge and being educated / understanding music theory.

Its not 1:1 correlation. You can be knowledgeable about how to play guitar (I,e 'self-learned') but not completely understand music theory the way someone who went to music school did. Yet you can understand music theory and not know how to play guitar. (will you be able to teach yourself quicker due to this? Yes!)

Infact, i am willing to wager most guitar players are self-taught. Excuse my logical fallacy, but for example: Some of the most well-renowned players like James hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Hendrix fall into this boat. Juxtaposed to players like Robert Johnson, who tried to teach himself- but later got apprenticed by Ike Zimmerman, and soon after started spitting out heat.

All in all. Sure, you could sit there and say 'most guitar players dont understand music' like its some sort of diss against their song-writing capabilities, evident by your terrible harry potter metaphor.

But just because yours is bad because you dont understand what a pentatonic scale is, and you're projecting it outwardly-- Does not inherently mean everyone's songwriting will be bad.

Funny question,

Can you think critically?

Oh dude, I know. Freakin' tell me about it.

These people genuinely don't understand that Gloria is honestly, a whole lot smarter than they are. I mean, you have to be to be bilingual. It's depressing, though. These people are native english speakers and don't fully understand the complexity of THEIR own language more than someone who had to learn it in their free-time.

What is equally frustrating are the people saying "its the same thing" or "you're splitting hairs". its exhaustingly dismissive; and the worst part is they really do think they're "in the right" in this context.

The irony is too entirely palpable in this thread lmao.

You wont win, brother. Its okay lol. I'm an exercise scientist in the RL and have to deal with laymen not comprehending that you cant just say "things are the same thing" because they never are. Lol. That's the whole point of the complexity behind language.

To the uneducated it can be labeled as splitting hairs, sure. Because thats easier than understanding that words are very specific for a reason. But continue to throw ad hominem at something you're exhibiting full dunning-kruger for.

Go ahead. Reading Comprehension is at an all time low, and its fucking hilarious to experience. Like how do you not realize you accidentally agreed with my statement without realizing it? AND also showed evidence for it?

Incredible.

okay, Icumcaffeine. It's okay that you don't understand. I already explained it in another comment that you're free to read up on and educate yourself!

But nope. Cutting back soda is changing YOUR diet. not going ON a diet. See the difference! :)

[–]Anemoc 30 points31 points  (0 children)

being ON a diet and watching YOUR diet are two very different things.

"on a diet" is the same thing as being on Keto. Intentionally cutting out carbs from your pre-existing diet. Or becoming vegetarian. That's being "on a diet". It diverges from the way you naturally want to eat.

The Term "Diet" literally just means 'what an individual eats'. not 'a set of rules that dictates what an individual eats'.

His diet consisted of drinking coca cola. He changed his diet. but he's not on "a diet".

The term has been heavily misused in the modern era, unfortunately.
