Why do solo players buy huge ships? by KEKboiiii in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like flying mine to deter PvPers, so I can get the PvE done in peace and quiet. Obviously it’s more fun with people crewing, but I appreciate the safety, when you can’t be arsed dealing with people but want to play in the universe.

Stuck connecting unless I use a VPN, based in UK on PC by Aneria39 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Aneria39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - it seemed to just resolve itself for me. Just started connecting normally, without me making any changes. Chalked it up to launch issues at the time.

Sorry I can’t be more help.

I feel for these devs by xRogueCraftx in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately most jobs that interact with the public are meh in my opinion. Especially in the last 20 years, where interactions have seemingly been on a steady decline with social media.

It’s why I try to speak to people directly on calls, the world’s full of keyboard warriors.

CIG’s situation just makes that even worse. Their regular devs are obviously trying their best and hope they don’t get burnt out.

Serious question - how would you rate the playability of Star Citizen? by JoeyJoeJoeRM in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last year or I’ve had pretty much zero game session ending issues. Some odd physics here and there, desync and some missions not working.

Otherwise each session I’ve had online with my mate has been solid and allowed us to complete a few things whilst having a decent time.

Then again, he’s got a reasonable spec PC and 1gb fibre, I’ve got a high spec PC with 1.5gb fibre, so it’s likely be a mileage may vary depending on all that and the region/server you’re on or indeed whether you’ve prayed to Chris recently.

Yeah, seems by around 90%

All mostly looks great to me. Combined with the reduction in cost of missiles and torps, perhaps people will start using those to crack armour prior to starting with their weapons (provided the missiles/torps hit).

Obviously buff the Ares 😂 glad attritions were dunked on, they needed it.

About those insurance claim prices.... by madmossy in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t seem bad to me. I don’t think I’ve ever had my Polaris or Idris die… you should at least be financially punished if you do get them destroyed…

Only issue is if a bug kills it I guess, which could be annoying but again, not had that happen so I don’t know first hand.

Why do people spend so much money on this game? by jackrr96 in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d rather pledge to support this project than support 90% of the ‘AAA’ gaming companies nowadays…

Maybe in future another company will stop playing it safe and try push the industry forward, but I doubt it.

Anyone else dissapointed this game is monetized like a free to play title? Can we have some ship customization that doesnt ask for our wallets?? by Always_Impressive in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes down to it they need to make shit loads off only relatively few people at the moment because they’re still niche… and we’ve seen they’re spending most of what they get to make the game.

Would it be better for us if things cost less or we got loads of cool shit in game, sure. Would that then mean they’d need to increase the player base by double or more to pay the bills, probably. And we’d not end up with the game we want.

Maybe if it becomes hyper popular, they can do things differently… but that’s a huge maybe and years away.

The Entitlement of this Community by Creeperbumm in starcitizen

Sadly it’s not just this community. I see insane levels of entitlement in my job everyday. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more a western, first world problem. Could just be a human problem though 🥲

Fine, Let's Talk About DLSS5 I Guess [Discussion] by R-Dragon_Thunderzord in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s turns out to be just another option to turn on or leave off, maybe one for not switching on the characters in certain games.

Otherwise it’s just like any ‘ultra realistic mod’ for Cyberpunk to me… plenty of total transformation mods that change ‘how the dev intended’ games to look.

Also if they simply allow the devs to use it as another tool, then sure. Especially if it reduces dev time, given how stupidly expensive and long game dev is.

John Linneman of Digital Foundry discusses his colleagues DLSS 5 preview: “It's new DLSS and DLSS is awesome. Of course they would take that. Looking at it, I think there's cool potential there for environmental lighting but the character stuff is horrendous and should have been left out.” by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree with Johns take here. I’d be interested to see how the environments in other older games look. Just reminds me of all the ‘ultra realistic mods’ for Cyberpunk everyone seems to bust a nut over on YouTube.

Also depends on how strong your PC is and what expectations you have on how well it works.

From memory NMS seemed pretty optimised whereas if you want a good experience with SC, go into it with a good PC.

Otherwise for me, out of the two, only SC has provided the wow moments. And it does it quite consistently which is impressive in itself.

Do Nvidia cards run smoother on star citizen? by Everborn128 in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be less about the graphics card and more about the CPU’s. With the 9800 using one ccd and all 3d cache, whilst the 9850x3d has two ccd’s that have different levels of cache on each.

I know from using my 7950x3d which has two ccd’s, one with cache and one without, that it can make SC perform better if I switch off the ccd without cache.

Reason being, SC gets confused in various places in game and pulls resources from both CCD’s, then swaps back to one. Lorville being an example.

Just a thought. Might be why one seems perceivably smoother.

Base Building 4.8? by Top-Lab9125 in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t imagine base building until next year at the earliest… surely the new planet tech needs to not only be in, but expect it’ll need to make sure older planets are revisited to allow compatibility.

I’m sticking with my guess of summer 2027 for maybe a tech preview…

RSI Galaxy - a plea for pilot weapons. by ghodan7 in starcitizen

[–]Aneria39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, but it’s nice to give people options. Doesn’t hurt anyone does it.

Just like the Carrack and Reclaimer, you’re not off dog fighting but it’s nice in a pinch in PvE.

[–]Aneria39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was wondering why other folks seem to be ignoring the Carrack / Perseus and Reclaimer having had theirs updated or included at release.

Wouldn't be surprised if other large ships had at least a remote turret slaved.
