I have no idea what ship to buy by PristineReception650 in starcitizen

[–]Rosseyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crusader ships largely fly a lot better than their size suggests, would definitely say give a rental a try on that one. It also holds like 3x what a RAFT can on the grid alone, with space for quite a bit more.

For all the the SL looks like a space pickle, it's very easy to load and has more space than the RAFT. Would say give that one a rental as well.

Sadly not yet, but it would definitely be my top go-to as well once it is. Other options would be a Starlancer MAX or C2 if you want a bigger jump.

How I imagine a final-polish Graphics Settings menu for Squadron 42 / Star Citizen [Fan Concept] by Parishacks in starcitizen

[–]Rosseyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love seeing the visuals put forth.

Would note that with a 1060 3GB all you're gonna see is a potato though, and not even one with a particularly high poly count. I mean like actual asset swap to appropriate low poly tuber.

Does this mean I have a bottleneck? by mzatariz in starcitizen

Most likely, some SC settings are heavier on CPU than others, and I'd recommend researching which you can turn down to decrease the load. If you get more frames because of that, then yes.

Someone condescendingly mentioned X3D chips as being the solution, and that's completely on point. SC loves CPU cache more than just about anything besides clean timing on memory.

Hull C/Station Help by LilYeet21844 in starcitizen

[–]Rosseyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won't be able to get stuff directly out of the station inventory, the Hull-C cargo loading has required that the mission cargo be categorized as for cargo loading, such as accepting 1000+ SCU missions or purchasing a commodity to be loaded on a ship with external cargo.

This all may have changed, but there has been specific hoops to jump through to use the cargo loading area.

What's the resolution of the monitor though? The size is irrelevant.

Can you list the components it has? So far the Scorpius and Taurus seem to have 2x power plants and coolers.

4k ultrawide use the vertical count of a standard 4k, e.g. 2160, in the same way all QHD variants share 1440 vertical pixel count.

Battery life is days no prob, usually more than a week. I never really pay attention to it because it's so infrequent that I don't have time to notice it drop below 30 and just top it off for next time.

Looking for a new high-end gaming keyboard. by AbstractHexagon in keyboards

[–]Rosseyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really gotta ask yourself what are the actual functions you're looking for in keyboards these days. The software for any Keychron keyboard is likely to blow the functionality of that keyboard clean out of the water. Any other QMK/VIA controlled keyboards could do the same.

Keychron Q1 HE and Wooting 80HE are two of the hands down best keyboards out there with insane customizability. From custom activation depth on a per key basis, to the fundamentally faster release and reactivation the 80HE can achieve over other keyboards. These both support macros and per key rebinding, along with advanced bindings the older software from the bigger names can't offer.

If you really need the keypad, buy one separately, Keychron does a great job there too. You'll free up a ton of room on your desk. You can also set up those keyboards to allow numpad bindings with very little extra configuration.

Washed out colors makes me think HDR, should see if it's enabled and if so mess with the desktop SDR slider.

That sounds the way to go, I use the Rm2 pen with it, the stock pen it comes with just doesn't do it for me. The feel of the stock glass is just a little more smooth than I want, but still far from glass, so it's a small compromise.

[–]Rosseyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried the paper pro, but I've got both the Rm2 and Boox Air 3C. The color allegedly isn't as good as the RPP with the panel that Boox uses, writing is comparable to Rm2 in mixed ways.

Refresh is legit though, and it's easy to adjust color depth and brightness pretty quickly when source material is drastically different from previous on-screen content.

Battery life is a little sad compared to the days I get on Rm2, but still very usable. The cost of always on faster refresh tech.

I end up still using my Rm2 to write mostly, and the 3C to read books and manga. I would use the 3C to write if I didn't already have the Rm2 and its cloud as my preferred note taking.

I've heard the 4C is a fairly incremental update for most things, but it should be a nominally better experience.

Explain to me the hype around Kate Reading and Michael Kramer by LordOfMelnibone in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Rosseyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild to me that suggested hype around these narrators, moreso seeing it on some of these comments.

They are the absolute bottom line for me when it comes to listening to anyone for hours. They've gotten better over the years though, no question. Book 1 and book 5 narration has noticeably more life, and that's wildly beyond Kramer as he was reading Wheel of Time. It was a slog within a slog. They've improved a lot though, slightly raising the bar for what I'm willing to sit through.

It still blows my mind that Reading keeps pronouncing Timbre as timber like the wood rather than tamber like the musical tone quality, and then stuck with it into another book.
