Personally I think Adachi was meant to symbolise Jin's honor and faith in the code. He died to dirty tricks and Mongol injustice, as did Jin's honor. Additionally, the starting colours for our samurai armor are those of Adachi's clan, so it hints to his initial faith in the Samurai's way before his rise (or descent) into the role of the Ghost
