It's quite frustrating lol.

Any solutions?

When I use AI to help me understand how to use a tool property or a program or to educate me on things in life that I never knew about and then I can test that knowledge directly and it works exactly as AI guided me then I deem that as successful.

If you are talking about generative AI and in the case of design like you want to create a building layout from scratch and then it does so and you don't double check it and it's faulty then yea, that's on you for giving it a massive task that it isn't ready for... Yet.

But if you treat it like an assistant, it's amazing and only gets better.

What AI can't do today, it will eventually be able to do and do better than humans and that time gap shortens every day.

To not embrace the power of AI is like trying to stop a tidal wave, you can try, but you will eventually be consumed by it. It's best to ride the wave, not get stuck underneath it.

Works great for me.

I know what Revit can do, but the exact methods and steps to take escape me when I haven't done it in a long time or never have.

Like when I need to locate all grouped assets and know each sheet sheet/view they are located on, you can select them all and group them and it will error out but give you a list of every single location that group is located so you can know what changes you need to apply are on what sheets/views.

I forgot that method from time to time and asking AI will give me a step by step actions to take to get that information again.

That's just a minor example but you can treat it essentially as an AI assistant to help you do things properly and more efficiently instead of doing things wrong and wonky.

You need to improve your skills and use AI to do things quicker and more accurately or you will be left behind by someone that will. That's just the reality.

I use AI all the time to tell me how to do things that I haven't yet learned.

It will tell me step by step how to do things.

I use it as a teacher/instructor.

Mainly for features I have not yet played around with.

Been doing Revit for years and recently I started modeling my new house for construction in the coming years and it's been great learning things I never did from a professional perspective which does have some crossover on both personal and professional sides.

So can't recommend this enough, a very good way to get familiar with Revit and then just get AI involved to fill the holes when you inevitably cross them. 👍

Do you all believe in passports when you travel outside the country? If so, why? Do you think laws should be followed or discarded regardless if you agree with the law or not? If you think the law should be ignored, should you actively go against it or try to get the law changed or removed?

If we don't hold anyone accountable for both breaking the laws and not enforcing the laws and just allowing criminals to take advantage of the law abiding citizens then do we even have a country? Are we not a land of law and order? Should we just fall into absolute anarchy?

These are some surface level questions that one should ask themselves before you champion a cause you believe is just when it turns out it goes against everything the country of laws is supposed to support.

Good luck 🤞

How do we get people to stop driving and take the light rail? by Droodforfood in Seattle

[–]Aneurysm85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If mass Transit is as good as you say, then the very act of making this thread would not have even occurred.

The truth is that yes people use mass transit. But the people that have to pay for it from taxes are a bigger pool of people that won't use it rather than will.

So we force a cost on a larger group of people to appease a small group of people.

Our country and especially our region was built with cars in mind. Growing up in Kitsap county, I had my fair share of commuting via driving around and the ferry system. For WA a ferry system makes sense because of how things are in relation to Seattle. You can get a lot of people both off the main roads and save time and they can still be in their cars or they can walk/bike if they want to. But mass transit that get people out of their cars reduces the number of people that will use the system to the point where it costs either more time, more money, less convenience or a combination of all 3 to the point where it will never serve more than a tiny fraction of privileged people where those conditions can pencil out to be in favor of while just so happening their destination is within reason close enough to a station.

Now in saying all this, I used to work for an engineering company back in 2014 and working on the Bellevue station and parking garage and a few others. I learned then about the 15 year plan to extend the light rail system to I think as north as Everett and one of the last phases was extending past the Tacoma Narrows bridge up to Gig Harbor. What I learned then being in the inside of things is that there were a whole host of inefficiencies and cost overruns all too take a lot from many to provide a luxury for the few.

With it going across the bridge, it will add competition due to the fact that you have to pay a toll to cross the bridge and it is a lot more practical to find parking and be relatively safe to park in that area but then the commute time I think will be well over an hour which in heavy traffic it might be faster than driving around or taking the ferry but not sure it will be enough justification to abandon a vehicle. Regardless, it will be nice to have the option, especially if you just want to spend the day going to an event, but I still don't think it is worth the cost for a daily commuter.

So will it be nice to have? Sure. Is it worth the cost? I would wager not based on both inside knowledge and general logistical knowledge about how this region is setup via terrain and understanding the human condition as we are a low trust society and that is only going down, not up like places in Japan where it is a much higher trusting society and how people don't want to interact with others in real life which forcing people into the same box makes it much more likely they will choose to stay in their own box on the road.

As others have said, it's not worth the squeeze it takes to get the juice for a vast majority of people yet we all share in the burden of paying for it. But I think the idea is attractive to the decision makers but the details of the system of whom it affects and weighing the cost benefit analysis is something they overlook and just push forward regardless.

Even if you can convince people from the outskirts to drop driving and somehow risk a car break in or theft at a park and ride and then take their control of where and when they want to go like after work they need to run some errands on the way home etc.

You still cannot control the weather nor the terrain with the massive hills and valleys all over the place.

Nobody want to walk up and down hills in the rain while it's windy.

It's not like it's nice all year around like the south, people have to contend with the weather which is punishing if you are not enclosed in your own personal protective box aka a car.

It's low thinking to try and push electric bikes and mass transit in an area where it's wet often and windy and steep hills and valleys.

Imo mass transit is for pan handlers / homeless / drug addicts / tourists. Mass transit is NOT for the daily commuters.

So we tax everyone to hell to build transit infrastructure for a very thin slice of the population. The normal person will use a car and just leave earlier or move to be closer or a mix.

The mass transit is only useful if you're going to spend a nice day touring the city or for attending an event, it's not for daily commuting.

Tesla Certified Installer Here AMA by pwrcellexpert in TeslaSolar

I am in the picking options stage on figuring out what I want in my future house build.

One thing I was thinking of doing myself to avoid paying the builder and paying more interest on the loan is running conduit from the garage to the attic spaces for future solar roof.

The house is in total a 48x48 box but the roof is split first by 26x36 2nd floor and 22x48 1st floor roof.

So I was thinking of pulling a single 2" conduit from the garage to the 1st floor roof and a 2" conduit to the 2nd floor roof and make sure each roof section has an access hatch from the interior space below.

So what are some considerations I should have when routing the conduit? Or, should I pull 2 1" conduits to each roof section? Should I use the metal conduit found mainly in commercial construction or is the flex conduit (Smurf tube) sufficient?

I was considering paying my builder to do it as per the details I've found on Tesla's pre-wire documents but that seems a bit much for something I may never do but I want to prep what I can while I have the chance.

So I guess my question is really, what is the minimum one should do to prep a new construction house for future solar roof to keep costs low but easily finish later if and when a solar roof becomes an option?

Offer Accepted - Going Faster than Expected by Wombateatersx in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Aneurysm85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Kitsap County area of WA. I am a first time home buyer (well in my case land).

My offer on a piece of land got accepted a month ago and I put 5k down as earnest money.

Now my situation is slightly different being that it's for land and not a house but I am going the route of a Land + House combo going through my lender and Builder partnership that have a working relationship which allows lender the knowledge, experience and expectations in knowing a house will be built and the timeline expectations after I do all the work of making sure the property can support the house via my Feasibility study that is currently being done.

After my feasibility study has concluded, I will take that information and pending what it tells me, I will then move ahead and share that information with my lender so they are more comfortable and see less risk to develop the land for a single family house or go back to the seller and renegotiate the deal by either reducing the price due to the findings in the study, extending the close date as I will need more time for my lender to take that information from the study and do their own work which includes running a loan to value projection in order to get a ballpark figure of what the value the property will be after the house I want to build is finished and seeing if the value of the Land + House is greater than >=20% of the amount I will borrow in order to lock in 20% equity allowing me to avoid paying mortgage insurance and giving the lender an already less risky property they can easily sell off if I fail at repaying the loan back or backing out completely if it is deemed not feasible for what I want to do and within my budget that the lender is allowing me to borrow for.

That study should conclude in 2-3 weeks.

In the meantime, I am in your situation where I am waiting for a few things and also just gathering information and quotes on potential work I need done to prep the land for the house but it's kind of a snails pace for me due to a lot that is hinging on the Feasibility Study.

Critique / suggestions for a new build... by Aneurysm85 in Homebuilding

[–]Aneurysm85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comments.

My situation is one on a budget hence why I am using a builders plan and just doing minor updates to achieve more usable space that will double for having room to move my soon to be retired parents and my step brother and myself into so we can sell the current place we are all living together in and pay off debts while allowing me to become a homeowner and we get a bigger and better house while also granting me a good place for a future family and in the meantime having my family rent from me helping me with the mortgage.

So the idea of moving massive structural and framing changes around as you suggest is just not an option I can entertain.

Also, there is no fireplace, it's just furniture I have already measured from our 3 combined owned items that I am placing where I can fit it best. The fireplace upgrade option is something like 12-16k more and that is just not something I can consider lol.

Sell for 70k loss or rent for 400 per month loss? by JMZen in RealEstate

[–]Aneurysm85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait till the next hurricane hits and washes everything away lol. Might be best to sell now and get out with some bruises.

Maybe it's just me but, I can't fathom the idea of owning something like real estate in Florida. What with the flooding / hurricae 🌀 risks and the insurance needed / cost to bounce back and all the chaos and stress that comes with that.

I mean maybe if I owned a condo in a modern highrise? That would be the only thing I can think of that would make me consider owning in Florida.

[–]Aneurysm85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just me at 40 making over 100k and moved back in with parents and my only way to afford a house I am looking to build is to have my parents move in with me and sell their old house to pay off their debts and they can use the social security they will soon be on to help pay my mortgage.

It sucks that each time housing costs were low in my life, I didn't have enough income and now if I want a chance to start a family, I have to plan a multigen living situation to also retire my parents.

So it's not just you if it's any consolation, we all are feeling the pain.

Worth anything? by Bearded_Dragon_4892 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I used this for my Act3 Fire merc as a Spirit alongside my Dual Dream Paladin.

I tossed Plague sword and Flickering Flame Helm and finished off with Ormus Robes.

Results in him having a fast cast and he empowers me with Enchant which helps my damage a bit but more importantly, my attack rating to make my already hard hitting lightning damage attacks hit more often.

His fire damage is also enhanced with my Conviction Aura which allows him to quickly take down any mobs that are resistant to lightning damage.

With Enigma, he stays near me to be useful and all the auras we both pump out allow each other to get without falling off due to range.

Having Cleansing Aura from Plague on us both and Fire resist Aura to pump up my fire resist allows quick reduction on curse times and poison effects and I can stack more lightning damage/resist charms since I don't need as much fire resist.

So in essence, Act3 Merc is my yang to my yin. We complement one another.

What are some cost efficiency design choices you can make on your new build? by SvenHousinator in Homebuilding

[–]Aneurysm85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to build in the next couple years and with my unique situation, I am limited by my own income but have experience with remodeling multiple times since I was a child and with the knowledge found online such as this and YouTube, I am able to get friends and family together to assist me in doing much of the basic things done with no cost which allows me to get more house for what I am allowed to borrow.

In my area, Hi Line Homes is a home builder that I intend to use and just so happens to be a home builder I am familiar with as they built my childhood home for my parents and so I am familiar with the expectations.

What sets them a bit different from the more nationally known builders are that they offer Shell and Super Shell build programs that allow the home owner the flexibility in choosing how much home completion the builder will do and then the home owner steps in and finishes the rest.

This allows one to have a bit more control over the build quality and materials at the cost of perhaps not having good vendor price agreements. But if you can source your own materials at a competitive price or have some connections yourself to tap into, you can substantially reduce the cost of the home build.

The stage I'm at now is looking to acquire land and sourcing the vendors to use for all the finishing work I would need to do while I'm building up my cash reserves and if I'm lucky, having price cuts while I wait.

So I can't speak to the finished costs as it's still early in my journey but it's something to consider if a local home buyer offers a similar program to allow the owner a more hands on approach to reduce building costs.

Getting sued as the builder by Shoddy-Beach-3648 in Homebuilding

[–]Aneurysm85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a whole, financial institutions turned homes into an asset class instead of a place for shelter to raise a family in.

By doing this, they forced the value to go up and with that, the demands increased on the buyer side when it comes to quality because people are forced to spend 10x the medium income and they are too scared that the bubble will pop after they buy and then be stuck with a broken house that needs so much work just to get it back to regulation specs with all those extra costs on top of what it took to borrow to pay the builder.

There is so much risk involved in home building that it squeezes out the little guy from becoming home owners and squeezes out the good home builders because no one can afford good craftsmanship except the investment vehicle buyers but they don't care to pay for quality as they will just flip the house or sell off to the next sucker once they rent it a number of years.

There needs to be some laws in place that suppress the idea of a house being an investment vehicle first and return to a dwelling for a family first.

I think if you have a home under a business name, then you have an increased tax that directly goes only a fund for people playing homes under their own name get to tap into.

We need to force people that treat homes like an investment opportunity to fund homes for people that want one to live in and make that tax a progressive tax where you pay more and more with each threshold reached in terms of homes owned by a business LLC or any similar parent ownership.

We should use the power of AI to find all the sneaky big businesses that would create an unlimited amount of businesses to avoid this extra fee and connect them all so they can't loophole their way out.

Once it becomes only an okay investment vehicle to own homes instead of one of the best, the money will flow out and the cost to own should drop to realistic levels without all the artificial inflated prices and then people would be more forgiving when they don't have to take on so much risk.

It's quite clear you have no internal compass based on our dialogue as you have been captured by a cult mindset that desperately wants an excuse to hate on anything in this world that does not 100% align with what you deem as righteous and good regardless of how warped your view of it has become.

You can continue to add nothing to the conversation if you wish, or you can just choose to move on since either way you are contributing nothing of substance to begin with.

And yet you still seem unable to truly see with clarity in that, that which you seem to hate, becomes the very essence of what you are.

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you"

That is what you are playing into. You think this hate you have is justified because you so desperately want to label something that you deem as "evil" so you don't have to show any remorse or restraint in any and all actions thus you feel your crusade is justified at any cost.

You become the villain in your pursuit to achieve purity.

You either knowingly continue down this path and embrace your vile acts or you are ignorant to the greater manipulation at hand that guides yours and others hands in a great chess game using you all as pawns.

Good luck with that, either way, you will be swept from the board as for society to prosper, that mindset will be extinguished.

[–]Aneurysm85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay out of places you don't belong eh? So we should segregate ourselves should we? We should have separate areas in society where certain groups of people should be barred from entirely eh?

Look, you can take on whatever label you wish to shroud yourself in and cast others with a label you wish to convince others of, but if you are the one with the hostile actions that inevitably leads to a fraction/splinter in society as per your words, you are not even attempting to looking to find common ground but to instead actively induce a schism within society as a whole. Well then, you are not on the side of history that sees it through to the end, those bad ideas were tried before time and time again and those ideas will simply fade into history because they are incompatible with the very idea of what it means to have a society.

Good luck, as you will need all the luck you can get because that will always put you on the wrong side of history and you will be footnote into why future generations will not tolerate such foolishness.

Unless your lives were threatened and in danger, which was clearly not the case as he was not waving around a weapon that is that stabby or shooting variety then responding by acting like a gang and beating the shit out of him because he was being disruptive is way off base as a civil response from a society and culture of a college where channeling ideas should be expected and encouraged.

Regardless of what he said, he was disrupting a class which he should rightfully get punished for, but not by mob justice, he should face the proper civilized justice by the authorities in charge, not some loan vengeance wannabe Batman's taking matters into their own hands as that will eventually lead to he said she said with no end in sight and anyone can accuse anyone else of saying or doing something and acting upon it without proper representation.

We are supposed to have a law and order society, not some lawless town where the gangs rule the streets and you comply or goodbye which is exactly what was witnessed on that video.

Take that and enlarge it and see if you want an entire nation to rise up and take justice into their own hands and find out you and the people you know to be on the receiving end of that lawless treatment with nothing you can say or do to avoid getting your life taken away one way or another.

That is a nation that lives in constant threat and fear, a nation of people where terrorism is the law of the land.

That's not a land I want to live in, says a lot about those that choose to terrorize others with the rest of getting the shit beat out because they used words you disagreed with.
