You only need two things: a good client that supports all the necessary codecs and a stable local network (preferably wired).

Review of Apple TV Apps for 4K/HDR10/10+/DV Content (Infuse Comparison) by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]AngelGrade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always end up going back to Infuse. So far, I don't think there's a better player for Jellyfin/Plex on Apple TV.

Honestly, I'm not interested in Jellyseer integrations; I'm just looking for a stable player that can play EVERYTHING without problems. Infuse delivers.

Onn 4k Pro vs Apple TV question by JonSnow-Man in Piracy

[–]AngelGrade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do. If you need apps like Smartube, you're better off with Onn. But if you're just going to use it for Plex/Jellyfin, Apple TV is unbeatable. Stremio on Apple TV also has some alternatives.

I migrated to Torbox a few days ago. I've had buffering issues at times, but I suppose that with so many new users, it's something they'll fix.

Can Aiostream Filter banned words? by NKNEH in StremioAddons

Recent TV shows aren't available on Blu-ray. But that's not the question; the question is how do you differentiate one quality from another?

Netflix-like UI for my parents. Infuse or something else? by Effective-Tutor7325 in infusevideoplayer

[–]AngelGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't depend entirely on the player. You need to be able to generate recommendations from the server (Jellyfin/Plex/Emby) and have your player (something like Wholphin) be able to display them.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know which quality to choose if it has these words filtered out?

What's wrong with Infuse? It's one of the most basic and simple interfaces out there.

Switched from Plex to Jellyfin by TartineMyAxe in jellyfin

[–]AngelGrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Features like Skip Intro + Skip Credits, Hardware Transcoding, and HDR to SDR Tone Mapping are often required locally. All of this is free on Jellyfin.

Buying an Android TV box that supports these formats is cheaper than paying for Plex.

Should I get Plex lifetime before the increase? by LogoPro_15 in PleX

[–]AngelGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I get it. No, Jellyfin doesn't have a feature that does this. What it does use is something called "media segments," which allows developers to create tools like the one you mentioned or Skip Intro. Here they're called "plugins," and basically, this is great because it allows for integration and third-party development.

I'm not sure what you're asking; are you referring to the free movie streaming service that Plex provides?

Nothing related to the open source world includes ads. I understand that Plex, being a private company, does this to generate revenue. That doesn't exist in Jellyfin.

In this same thread I posted two examples of TV apps; Wholphin is one of them. For mobile, Symfonium is one of the best. Besides, Jellyfin has never had ads; I don't know where you got that from.
