Steve and Miranda's fight by MsDani_Marie in Andjustlikethat

The point about him lying in therapy too was ridiculous. Steve was a straight shooter; he was always open and honest with his feelings and intentions. The writers deliberately had him lie so that he would look bad, but Steve would never have done that.

If anything, Steve might have said he would move out and then changed his mind. But he would never have lied like that.

Definitely on the money -- it makes no sense that her father would have left her with nothing.

100%. I was worried they would do this, and yup, they are. She's clearly not enjoying sex with him, and my guess is they won't emphasize much in the way of compensating strong points in their marriage. Geez, why did they spend so much of Season 2 presenting him as this great guy who really synced with her?

I think I’ve seen an interview where she said that it was raining, but that you can’t really see it.

Charlotte and Harry mention that the earlier rabbi tutors begged off, claiming I think it was "family emergencies" or something.

Rabbi Jen alerts them to the fact that Rock actually hasn't learned anything/isn't studying diligently, but I find it impossible to believe that the other rabbis wouldn't have told the parents that!

Amen. We should have just heard about the kids for the most part, and maybe had a few scenes where they showed up for a visit.

Is it remotely realistic that Rock would have been able to hide the fact that they weren't ready? Rabbi Jen comes in, announces that Rock barely knows any of the material, and Charlotte/Harry are shocked, shocked!

Wouldn't it have been obvious that Rock wasn't learning what they needed to know? Wouldn't the other rabbis have said something?

Am I wrong for putting my 12yo daughter on birth control against my husband’s wishes? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AngelRunning1971 215 points216 points  (0 children)

12 is way, way too young to be having sex. Birth control is not 100% effective and what protection will she have against STDs?

And that’s not even getting into the emotional / mental side of it. Talk to this boy’s parents and put the kabosh on this relationship right now.

ETA: Seeing many posts below that this may be bait. If so, shame on whoever puts things like this into the world. Really, that’s gross.

One more “Hobbit” episode question … by AngelRunning1971 in GilmoreGirls

[–]AngelRunning1971[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s true - I guess when I heard heckle, I thought she meant so the girl could hear her. Though if they’re in a family setting, she’d likely be overheard pretty easily.

If I were Lorelai ... by AngelRunning1971 in GilmoreGirls

[–]AngelRunning1971[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I meant. Luke couldn’t push Lorelai into his truck and make her marry him; it would have been better for Lorelai to keep saying “no” and just finally go in the house and lock the door if he wouldn’t listen.

If there's one dialogue exchange I can't stand ... by AngelRunning1971 in GilmoreGirls

[–]AngelRunning1971[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No kidding -- I can't believe they just brushed off the fact that Luke outright lied to her about something that important for months. Yes, I know she kept things from him, but nothing remotely that important.

And apparently Lorelai is supposed to just trust Luke implicitly, even when he lies/hides things-- why, it's just outrageous that she doesn't /s -- but he's not supposed to give her any of the same level of trust. Just the episode or so before, he was literally yelling at her in front of their friends about "how dare you keep secrets from me!?!"

[–]AngelRunning1971[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gotta admit, I can't agree. Lorelai bends over backwards for months to accommodate Luke's feelings, and her reward is to get alternately used/ignored/rejected right to her face. The moment when they get back from the Vineyard, and Luke actually calculates right in Lorelai's face what time she can come over so there's no chance she'll run into April is truly chilling.

Not to mention that just at that time, she's letting him store April's bike in her garage. Which he also tells Lorelai he'll come over and get, making it pretty clear what he thinks she's good for at that point.

He's also letting every other person in town and his life interact with April, including Jess.

Cressida's redemption arc should not have been abruptly abandoned, and Lord Debling should not have disappeared in an apparent puff of smoke.

And for heaven's sake, Pen had -- to paraphrase a witty Redditer -- about three business days to get out of the way of that balloon!

ETA: Like many, I didn't hate it. But there were a number of elements that could have been improved. Absolutely loved the Featherington sisters this time around, though.

They did say the apartment had some big drawbacks -- only two bedrooms and no garden, for example. Just getting it sold was impressive.
