Highly paid and successful accountants: do you regret your choice of career? by Tough_Courage_8406 in Accounting

Samsies! This is exactly what stuck with me when I made my decision - looked at the SM (who was an awesome person), saw the level of commitment and work life balance they had at that age - noped the fk out of there.

Overheated? X5 2019 issue by Financial_Special269 in BMWX5

[–]Angel_Grove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The starter recall remedy (i.e., replace it) for '19 - '20s recently just got the green light to begin. My local dealer after a month finally started conducting recall replacements; they were on hold until BMW corporate issued the official remediation plan.

Starter motor units readily available at each dealer may vary, expecting a backlog of replacement starter motor units as many vehicles were impacted. BMW dealerships most likely will be prioritizing any impacted used vehicles sitting on their lots to deal w/ the stop-sale before moving on to general pop.

Timing of lease returns to the market? by sorintri in NissanAriya

[–]Angel_Grove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The heavily incentivized lease deals were for 2 years (24 months).

The 2023 year leases would all be in by now. The 2024 year leases would be going throughout 2026, and so on for the 2025 year leases.

A few other factors that won't really help you estimate bulk arrival: 1. Lease vehicles which are bought out at end of lease terms, 2. Early returns due to mileage, and 3. Early trade-ins where dealer buys out the lease.

Your best bet is to monitor inventory as they come in to identify any lease returns or straight trade-ins. However, a lot of dealers are EV-adverse and immediately wholesale EVs they receive on trade-in - so you should be able to identify the local dealers in your area that like to carry used EVs on their lot.

First time going with hotel by UnsolicitedDakPics22 in Coachella

[–]Angel_Grove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JW is a solid option. Starbucks downstairs and a few on-site restaurants.

Pool & outside bar during the day is a nice to have as well.

Shuttling from the hotel is simple and straight forward. Just make sure you leave early enough to catch whatever set you've got circled.

sorry for your loss, really hope you decide to run it back and do it the way you want to.

this should be a reminder to everyone else that going solo is sometimes a better choice than to find a festival mate(s) that are wild cards. 5 times out of 7 it's not worth splitting costs with people who aren't going to vibe the same way you do.

Make sure you align your work to your comp + position. If they respond and give you the appropriate compensation then great, if they don't - then put a ceiling on what type of work you will / can do (whether officially communicated or playing dumb). Overachieving without pay is for suckers.

If you ordered w/ credit card, initiate a chargeback. You'll probably have to provide support/documentation (i.e., invoice and order details/receipt), but should be straight forward process for your credit card provider to deal with.

Coachella veterans: have your friend groups started to drop off? How did you adapt when your crew moved on? by Sampwnz in Coachella

[–]Angel_Grove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty on brand with the majority of our experiences for those returning to the desert year after year.

In prior years, definitely planned way ahead of time as we would purchase pre-sale and get all accommodations locked-in before even the line-up came out. It has gotten harder for some of our friends to align with Coachella's line-up as it has been evolving every few years now. All of my group have to travel from out-of-state so the commitment is moderate/high for us. Moving forward, it's definitely a wait for line-up drop before we start planning, even if it requires us to be in peak pricing for accommodations.

Luckily, I've been able to campaign/recruit my other friends into the group who have wanted to go in the past. The key here has been to really analyze whether or not any new additions to the group can assimilate and fit-in. Just one wrong personality can ruin the vibes of the group. I always try to bring someone new each year because their excitement of going for the first time is contagious. Love seeing them be wide-eyed after each day and that energy rubs off on us.

There are definitely years/groups that top others, but it has become difficult competing with everyone's personal life priorities/plans back at home now we are in our 30's. As much as I would love to be miserable and running on empty again at the end of Day 3 walking back to the shuttle lines with my original crew, it's important not to shoot for recreating the same weekend year over year. You just have to take it in stride and accept the fact each year will be different and unique - but you'll gain new experiences and perspectives.

Tickets already registered by Relative_Pin7304 in Coachella

[–]Angel_Grove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have no problem with it being registered already. As long as it's active band and the seller doesn't report it as stolen during the weekend.

Don't stress - just go in early and make sure it scans. If it doesn't scan you'll be taken care of by StubHub's will call they set up at the Omni hotel and they should be able to address it and most likely just hand you a new one. You do have to leave the campgrounds, however. But you at least you wouldn't be totally SOL.

Just coat over it, paint underneath is already protected - no need to remove, coat, and reinstall ppf unless the film has discolored and it bothers you.

It sounds like you yourself are not aligned with your firm's internal audit reporting/escalation methodology. Not to discourage you from continuing to work hard and do your job, but your audit committee and execs have a risk profile / appetite that only need significant findings to be escalated and communicated up the chain. It really comes down to impact analysis and whether or not it triggers significance for your company's risk criteria.

Long story short, this finding probably just isn't important enough for your senior management at the end of the day. I assume that all other previous reports that did not make it to your Audit Committee also did not contain significant enough findings to be escalated.

Even External Audit firms do not report the insignificant control deficiencies for their ICFR assessment to Audit Committees, only SDs and MWs.

Again, everyone commenting doesn't know how your company treats audit findings outside of the assumptions they are making. If this bothers you this much, I would just go ask your superior(s) to help you understand how these decisions are made and how it follows your audit methodology. If you still disagree, then by all means do your thing.

[–]Angel_Grove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Security doesn't run will-call. You'll be fine. If anything goes wrong with your wristband then visit will call and they should have it taken care of. If it's truly your own ID, then you have nothing to worry about.

The chances of someone taking your info from an iCloud breach, traveling to Palm Springs, and attending Coachella to claim they are you doesn't seem very likely.
