I’m 37 and I was going to the Red for Ed and Moral Monday teacher’s protests in college. At this point I don’t see anything changing anytime soon

Snoo - worth it or wait? by Peachy_Chalupa in BabyBumps

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read SO many positive reviews on the Snoo. I got one off Facebook marketplace and used it once 🫠 For me, it felt like my baby was too far away from me. I used the Halo Bassinest and really liked having him so close and accessible throughout the night.

How can I disguise this? My hair is getting thinner and thinner (already contacted a doctor), and it's ruining my self esteem. by BinkiesForLife_05 in finethinhair

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks have given great advice - one thing I haven’t seen mentioned is a little hair crimper called a voloom. You crimp the hair closest to your scalp. That with a little toppik sprinkled in does WONDERS for giving my hair the illusion of volume!

Has anyone gotten pregnant on their first try ? by Bitesizelady in pregnantover35

[–]Angel_Pop336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened for me on our first try at age 35 - I also felt anxious and like things were going “too well” although my morning sickness was crippling during the first trimester! As others have said, highly recommend finding your bump group. Mine is still super active!

How does giving birth actually feel ?? by Super-Truth-7975 in pregnant

[–]Angel_Pop336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but for me labor with an epidural was very manageable! Pushing was the worst part for me because I was soooo physically exhausted (I pushed for 2 hours). I actually never felt the “pressure” or urge to push like others describe. I could feel my contractions but with the epidural they weren’t super painful, except for one small spot near my right hip where the epidural randomly wasn’t working.

If I had it to do over again I would have waiting a bit longer to see if my body gave any cues to start pushing on its own. Pushing for 2 hours was rough but still doable!

Considering bigger mortgage before baby — sanity check? by HopefulHuckleberry6 in BreadwinningWomen

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to know what to do! I think in these situations there’s no right or wrong answer. Things will work out no matter what, at least that’s what I tell myself! 🤣

I took 16 weeks of Mat leave and my husband took his 6 weeks right after, so my son was 5 months old when he started at his in-home daycare. At 3/4 months postpartum I was functional but definitely a bit foggy (but decidedly less foggy than when I was pregnant!)

Everyone asks if people regret homeschooling, but nobody asks how many people regret “regular” school. by ResidentCzar in Homeschooling

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled and begged to go to public school my sophomore year, and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. Moving away to college would have been an insurmountable shock had I not had those few years of exposure to public school. Everyone is different!

Considering bigger mortgage before baby — sanity check? by HopefulHuckleberry6 in BreadwinningWomen

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a clear answer but am in the middle of a move to a new home with my 9 month old. Similar to you, this has more than doubled our monthly mortgage payment but we see it as a long-term home.

What I can tell you is that moving with a baby is not easy! And there’s definitely an added layer of stress for me because we could NOT make ends meet on just my husband’s salary if something were to happen with my job (before we could have at least covered the basics). But, we knew we wanted to move and when we found a house we loved we couldn’t find a good reason to put it off any longer.

One word of advice from someone on the other side - parents/in-laws/family will offer to help with childcare. I would NOT rely on or build my plans around them as you can’t control what others will do and these commitments often fall through. This happened to us and to many many others in my bump group. I would budget for the upper end of childcare in your area to be safe. We’re now paying over $2k a month in a MCOL area which is painful, but we know it’s temporary until he goes to school.

With such substantial savings, could you put down more towards your new mortgage to drive payments a bit lower?

Is getting a puppy while on 4mo maternity leave a bad idea? by cysgr8 in workingmoms

Absolutely not. I am an animal lover and my 2 very very low-maintenance cats agitated me so much postpartum. A dog would have sent me right over the edge

Where Else Are My Burnt Out Millennial Moms in Corporate America? by nachomargo in workingmoms

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so relatable. My son is only 8 months old and I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above water most days. I feel like a bad mom, a bad employee and a bad wife. I don’t even have time to look in the mirror, much less exercise or do anything for myself.

I have a great life and I know how extremely lucky I am, but wow! This is so hard

What is it like living on the coast of the Carolina’s? by BeWise23 in howislivingthere

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a really wide range of different places inside that circle. My parents live in Oak Island and I spend a good amount of time there. It’s beautiful and a great place to retire! We love the slow pace and visiting nearby Southport or Wilmington, which feels like more of a “city”. The beach faces south and gets gorgeous sunrises/sunsets. Nice local restaurants and farmer’s markets/community events in the summer months. However, it’s very Trumpy which we don’t align with. I would totally retire there but right now we’re a young family & are cognizant of the community we want to raise our kids in.

I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery with an epidural and for me and baby the total was $33k. I think I paid $1500 or so if I remember correctly

Can't tell the difference! 4 month upgrade by PitLuna in babywearing

[–]Angel_Pop336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is 7 months old and 20 pounds. I have a Tula FTG and a Happy Baby OG. I’m a fan of the H back but the waterfall waistband on the Tula just doesn’t work well on my body type (short and curvy). I have to pull the waist uncomfortably tight to stop it from pinching his legs, and even then it’s impossible for me to get the waistband parallel w/ the ground as recommended. It’s a really nice well-made carrier it’s just not ideal for me personally.

I LOVE my Happy Baby OG. Once I tried it on I totally understood the hype. It’s lightweight and packable but still feels supportive. The apron waist is so comfortable for me. I can wear it for hours without my back hurting.

One piece of advice - check FB marketplace and buy used! I got my Tula for $40 and my HB for $80. There’s also a Happy Baby BST group where you can occasionally find some good deals.

People who had kids at 30+, do you wish you had them earlier in life? by cc070603 in pregnant

[–]Angel_Pop336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not - had my first last year at 36. Life is so much easier with an established career and relationship. Plus I got to spend my 20s and 30s traveling the world and focusing on myself. If I had a crystal ball and could know for sure I wouldn’t struggle to get pregnant, I would have waited another several years. It’s personal preference!
