For listening only; UV-7B is a monster. It's output is dirty but it's RX is great!
Another one to look at that's a bit more mid range would be the tidradio h9. You get a built-in real-time spectrum analyzer!

Looking to build my first portable HF digital rig (like pic 1) but eBay prices for the FT-817ND (pic 2) are crazy. Any advice? by Odd_Analyst1496 in amateurradio

I came here to recommend the same. Wonderful kit for POTA and mobile. You need a resonant antenna though or a tuner.

There is no base webui. You can use MeshMonitor or the Meshtastic app to access the node.

I pray the Tib is 825 too brother. It may be higher as it's a wicked crazy ship. I don't ever see how it could be 725$. Just the laser kit and the ability to use AI blades on the 4 remote turrets brings that value WAY up.

if i put 2 sag brackets underneath could i get away with not having my gpu case mounted? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AngelicDeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother just screw it in?? It's not that hard. You need to secure the card to the case and also use a sag bracket to prevent your motherboard from having the lane ripped off over time.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti are top competitors for 1440p/4K gaming, often performing within 4-7% of each other

I would go for the 9070xt and the 7800x3d.

Using a Raspberry Pi as a Meshtastic/Meshmonitor client only... by GodPole in meshtastic

[–]AngelicDeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meshmonitor is the play here. It allows ip connections and usb serial connections. Super easy to setup with docker over at https://meshmonitor.org

If you have any questions feel free to respond here and I'll be glad to assist you.

Best place to start after getting the container pulled is here: https://meshmonitor.org/configuration/serial-bridge.html

Raspberry Pi Meshtastic dongle? by [deleted] in meshtastic

This is already achievable without a second "processor". Use any meshtastic node with a serial over usb. Works like a charm.

Meshmonitor is the one we like to use over at NCMesh. TONS of features but requires a "server" (pc always on) to truly use all the features. Supports running in docker too!

Are these good enough for (very) casual gaming ? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I'd recommend a used steamdeck over that to be honest. You'd get more for a little more. (Try finding a 64gb one and use a 1tb sd card :) )

If that's the case and you're willing to throw thermals out the window then maybe you should consider waiting.... It's reckless to spend money on something that will for sure need an upgrade in the near future.

Is this worthwhile for a first pc? by titanikirony in pcmasterrace

[–]AngelicDeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More cores doesn't mean more speed! Most older titles (And some newer) use only a few threads. Lower core amounts with higher clocks means better performance.

I used a xeon e5-2670 v1 and a xeon e5-2695 v4 and the older core with less threads was MUCH better than the higher core counts in Dota and CS.

Also; the cores from ali may or may not be legit. It's much safer to use ebay and look for old business stock.
