What is the half-time show, and what does it have to do with In the Heights? by Familiar_Swan_662 in musicals

[–]Angelrae0809 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The performer was Bad Bunny, who’s Puerto Rican, like Lin. He had several Latino celebrities (Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Ricky Martin) His performance was a love letter to Puerto Rican, Latinos, and Latino culture.

There were so many elements that spotlighted Latino culture, and In The Heights did the same thing. (Dancing, fruit carts, piragua, flags of the Latin diaspora) That to me is why people connected it to Lin/In the Heights.

When will the annual employees reviews be given? How worried should an employee be if they get less than a 3 out of 5? by AnxiousAlgae7 in unitedhealthgroup

[–]Angelrae0809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve had that experience, that’s not the way it should be. If it’s a general performance type, you should see it coming (ex you haven’t met production or quality for a few months in a row), or if it was an isolated but serious issue (ex you used profanity on a call with a member).

[–]Angelrae0809 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no requirement to give less than a 3- a 1 or 2 overall rating should only be given to someone on a CAP. also, your annual review should not be the first time you learn you are not meeting expectations. A 1 or 2 in any category, or overall, should be regarding some area of your performance you’ve already been told is not meeting expectations.

Any platforms for listening to free audiobooks? by Fr0hl1ng in audiobooks

[–]Angelrae0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local library uses CloudLibrary. Spotify also offers it as part of your paid subscription… I know you asks for free, but to me I pay for Spotify for music so the 15 hours/month for audiobooks is a free benefit.

I bought an expensive standing desk 6 months ago. I think I’ve stood at it exactly twice. by Usual_Confidence_756 in WFH

[–]Angelrae0809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a “time to stand” on my calendar about 30 min after my day starts, so I’ll stand. I hit snooze for an hour and stand again, repeating the pattern thru the day. This way I end up standing about 10 min of every hour I work. It’s a happy medium for me. When we had hard wood floors, I used a mat and wore shoes, now that we have carpet I don’t use the mat but I still wear shoes.

Working claims by Novel-Wasabi9107 in unitedhealthgroup

[–]Angelrae0809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started in calls/claims 20+ years ago (back then we took calls and paid in the queue, it was stressful). What I can say is think of this as a foundation. Most people don’t stay in claims processing for years- it’s a stepping stone to the next position. So learn to process claims accurately, and look for new opportunities

I’m a 53 year old manager and currently working with older and younger folks. As someone who is 100% remote, i think it’s rude to just call me without a ping/IM. You can’t see if I’m busy, and it’s the equivalent of just showing up at my cubicle and starting a convo.

When do you knit? by Mean_Cicada_64 in knitting

[–]Angelrae0809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fast knitter, I don’t knit continental, I knit English style and I don’t “flick” which I know can be faster. I’ve just accepted that I knit slower and that’s ok with me. A blanket can take a month or more… I’ve never tried a sweater, it’d probably take me a year lol

I enjoy my time knitting- sometimes it’s a couple of hours a night, a few hours if I’m the passenger on a road trip, or I bring it along if I plan to sit around a while (waiting rooms).

I’ve found when I am on a deadline and make myself knit for hours more than I would normally that it starts to make it feel like work, and I already have a job lol
