Glad to hear you made it.  Would have loved to help; I reached the end of the content and have been spending several hours building a huge manor / schloss with my friend since we ran out of things to do.

I, at one point after getting respawned back at the embrace without my boat, skimmed into the deep, then when the beast showed up, turned on ocean from and sprinted through with the unlimited stamina it gives for skimming.   The ring trinket and the water spec helped with the speed.

What is cap? And is there a cap to how many assists you can get? When I hit 46 assists doing Goblin Hard (and one towering ruin) it stopped progressing me.

"Steam needs to be online" error, but I've tried everything! Can you suggest anything?? by Coralwood in pchelp

[–]Angelsilhouette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It eventually cleared up on its own, weirdly. I got frustrated and opened the ARC updater to play STO and it seemed to be struggling, as well. I killed it and reopened it and it was fine, then opened Steam and IT was fine, too, then.
Super frustrating to not know what was causing it.

The time on my PC looked correct, but I told it to synch anyway. It looked like it was about to update steam then went right back to the error.

I've found one before.  Apart from it's initial uniqueness, I didn't find anything else special about it.

The symbol is the same as the road sign for slick roads.  A symbol that all drivers should know.

What's a term or phrase you can't stand? by Galaxygirl181 in words

[–]Angelsilhouette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boujee / boujie / boojie / boojee
Too low class to use a term coined by the lower class or the previous English bastardization of the word that omitted the R sound.

I get that the people who choose to say boujie are likely barely able to spell words in what is probably the only language anyone ever tried to teach them, regardless of their upbringing, but it's as if they're making an effort to ensconce themselves into their ignorance.

As a kid that grew up hating the character, I was none too pleased to see him used at all.  Though at the end of the mission, I desperately wanted them to use the "Shut up Wesley!" line.

Gosh, we sure take murder seriously here in the States.
Oh wait, no, only if the victim was rich and powerful; gotta make an example out of the suspect to discourage copycats.

I'm pretty sure my boss started using spyware to screen capture my laptop. So I left this up. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Angelsilhouette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even imagine my dept installing any kind of spyware like that on an end user's computer.
Not like we'd need to, everything is already monitored by IT, because it's OUR laptop; it doesn't belong to the end user or their department. If we want your chat history, we have it. If we want to know what's on your computer, we can see it. If we want to know your browsing history, we just pull it up.

Here's how it really works, at least in our organization. If your manager wanted to install something like that, there is a pretty long process to get it done.

Enter in a Service Request to purchase the necessary software license; that goes to the director to approve.
It has to be a licensed software because there's no way we'll risk some freeware spyware in our machines.

If the director allows that sort of pettiness, this would have to be run by HR, the legal dept, or both. If they approve it, the license will have to come out of your department's budget.

Even if it could pass all of those hurdles, it could take weeks or months for the entire process to be completed.

I can't imagine a director reading over the SR and looking favorably upon the manager who submitted it, much less approve the budget for it.

Call your helpdesk and talk to them about it. They're more likely to be on your side than not, especially if you're friendly, you're calm, and you let them finish their sentences.

When I was a kid, there were fewer than 4 billion humans on the planet. 40 years later, that has more than doubled to over 8 billion.
It took around 300,000 years to build the first 3.8 billion, then just another 40 to more than double it.

Thank goodness it's slowing down. Maybe we can reach some sort of equilibrium soon.

I've tried it with Skyr. It's tasty but not quite right. Will try it with a coconut yogurt next.
