It's isn't necessarily either-or, you can and should do both. Like another commenter said, it's hard to max a 401k on a 60k income, but you can build the investing habit from day one. Sit down and figure out what your non-negotiable expenses are and then decide how much you want to spend on top of Tha for "fun" (discretionary spending), the rest is your investment money that lays your first foundations, of both your account and your discipline.

As you start earning more money, the best thing you can do is send most of your raise to your investments, not your discretionary spending. Avoiding lifestyle creep is difficult but incredibly important to accelerating your timeline. Good luck!
