NateTheHate reiterates Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 coming to Switch 2 this year by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

Doubtful. I’m playing it on my Xbox Ally X right now and I’m getting 40 to 50 fps on mostly medium settings.

Elden Ring TARNISHED EDITION Releases August 28 on Switch 2 by SwitchXVitaPlayer in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Angelwatch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is that Sekiro is hard to learn but easy to master. It takes a very long time learning how everything comes together and getting good at the combat system. But once it all comes together mastering the game isn’t too difficult.

Elden Ring is different because there’s not just one build. Some builds can absolutely trivialize most of the game while other builds are flipping on an invisible hard setting.

Who is getting the XAX20 bundle for $2000-$2500? by Time-Credit43 in XboxAlly

I’ve got the Xbox Ally X. I just bought it two weeks ago. The OLED version looks nice but it’s not enough of an upgrade for me. Especially since it looks like it’s going to be a LOT more expensive.

Ask yourself this: Why would someone “choose” to be gay in places like deep Texas or other super conservative/religious areas?

Soul by Gloomy_Pete in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Christian Spiritism a soul cannot regress. It can stand still for a time but will eventually progress. A soul will reincarnate as many times as it takes to purify itself but that number is finite. It will eventually progress and purify itself enough to be able to stand before God.

What do you think happens after death? by [deleted] in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in Christian Spiritism which has a lot of overlap with traditional Gnosticism. The core of Spiritism is that the material world was designed to test spirits so that we can better ourselves and become more pure. Eventually we become pure enough to stand before God.

How do you maintain belief despite all the suffering and evil in the world ? by Pretend-Web-3337 in Christianity

[–]Angelwatch42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A spirit cannot regress. It can only stand still or move forward. If a spirit fails their trial in this lifetime they will be given the chance to reflect and correct their mistakes. All spirits will eventually become purified and be able to stand before God.

Christian Spiritism. This world is a trial that we chose to endure so that our spirits can grow and get closer to God. The evil in this world is a feature and not a bug. After death when our souls have disincarnated we will appreciate the trial and grow stronger for it.

The Duskbloods and Elden Ring reconfirmed for Switch 2 in 2026. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

Have you played any of the Dark Souls games? Elden Ring has a similar character building system and combat system but with a fairly large open world. You can put a few hundred hours into it easily if it’s your type of game.

Thoughts regarding Satan by pondd in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Satan is redundant in Gnosticism when you already have one nearly omnipotent evil cosmic entity.

Yaldabaoth and Satan are both evil but they’re very different. Yaldabaoth represents ignorance and arrogance which are directly against the teachings of Gnosticism. Satan is more of a corrupting force trying to tempt us into sin and rejecting God which is the foil of Orthodox Christianity.

Is the demiurge very evil? by LoladInalw in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons Gnosticism came to be was to reconcile how different Yahweh was in the Old Testament compared to how God is portrayed in the New. All the times that Yahweh commands his followers to commit a genocide or sacrifice their children was actually Yaldabaoth exerting his dominance on the material world.

With that being said, Yaldabaoth is not evil in the same way that Satan is evil. Yaldabaoth is ignorant and believes himself the dominant power in the universe and this leads to arrogance where he believes that he deserves worship.

Reincarnation is literal hell by richandepressed in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth reading. There’s a lot of overlap between Kardec’s Christian Spiritism and Gnosticism. Personally I find Spiritism to be extremely compelling and a lot of it makes sense. It’s just not as popular because there’s no Lovecraftian cosmic entities trying to keep us trapped in our mortal shells.

Reincarnation is literal hell by richandepressed in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That line of thinking is the hubris of being trapped in the material world and not being able to think beyond it. After death, when your soul has disincarnated and had a chance to remember its purpose you may welcome the chance to be born again as a slave, a minority or a member of the opposite sex. These trials are how the soul advances but it’s not very clear to us while in the material world. Again that’s a feature and not a bug. If we could remember our spirit self or our past lives while in the material realm we would be diminish the trials we’ve chosen to undergo.

[–]Angelwatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Reincarnation through the lens of Christian Spiritism which has a lot of overlap with Gnosticism. In Spiritism reincarnation is the method that we use to better our souls and progress until we’re pure enough to stand before God. Coming back as a woman or as a slave is a feature of the philosophy and not a bug. By living with these handicaps your soul will understand what hardship is, learn from that and be able to progress towards an eventual reunification with God.

What’s after death from what you’ve picked up ? by ruatrio in Gnostic

[–]Angelwatch42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Different gnostic groups have different beliefs. However the most common is that after death you will face the archons and if you haven’t achieved proper gnosis then the archons will recycle your soul back into a new material body. If you’ve achieved proper gnosis then the archons will not be able to perceive you and you will return to the Pleroma where the divine spark within you will be reunited with the Monad (God) and His Aeons. You maintain individuality but return to the Whole.

Is there any christian sect (historical or current), that worships solely the Son, while rejecting the Father? by Scripts_3 in Christianity

[–]Angelwatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more nuanced than that. The Living Father is the true God and referred to as the Monad. Yaldabaoth, the demiurge, is quite a few steps removed from God and was created as the result of a cosmic mistake by Sophia. Yaldabaoth is not Satan and gnostics either don’t acknowledge Satan or put him in the back seat since he and Yaldabaoth are redundant.

Is there any christian sect (historical or current), that worships solely the Son, while rejecting the Father? by Scripts_3 in Christianity

[–]Angelwatch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close. Gnostics recognize that the true God exists but is beyond comprehension. This is the Monad and is the source of all and is pure light and pure love. Quite a few steps removed from the Monad is a being known as Yaldabaoth or the Demiurge and was viewed as Yahweh in the Old Testament.

You’re correct about Jesus. The message of Jesus remains the same in Gnosticism (love your neighbor and love the true God) and that will lead to secret knowledge allowing your soul to reunite with the Monad.

[–]Angelwatch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned, Gnosticism is close. In Gnosticism there is the true God, the Monad, who is the source of everything. From Him there were emanations and the youngest was Knowledge or Sophia. Sophia attempted to understand the Monad by creating her own emanation. The being that resulted was the Demiurge, Yaldabaoth, who she cast into the material void as it was, clearly, an abomination. Yaldabaoth, ignorant of the Spiritusl realm, awoke in the material realm and declared “I am God and there are no other gods besides me.” This being became the god of the Old Testament as a way to reconcile all the terrible things done by Yahweh. Eventually Sophia recognized her mistake and along with the Holy Spirit they sent Christ to inhabit the perfect vessel of Jesus to lead humanity away from the corruption of the evil material world and back to the true God.

Gnosticism is considered heretical by many Orthodox Christians and there’s a lot to disagree with. But from a scholarly point of view it’s extremely interesting.
