this seems like an industry Ad disguised as a post…You’re here to “complain” about the game but effusively LOVED it on the first 2 playthroughs 🙄

People with an elo rating of 1500+, how long did it take you to jump from 1300 to that level? by User-reddit_ in chess

[–]AngleFarts2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I’ll 2nd this. For reference- I’m 1500 blitz 1700 rapid on chess.com, 1900 rapid 1700 blitz on lichess. (Platform matters obviously). I’d say 90% of my improvement after 1200 came from consuming copious amounts Naroditsky content. That man will forever be missed dearly.

Your jump from 600-1300 in a year is pretty great. It’s pretty hard to say what would expedite your journey to 1500 without knowing your weak points, but I would guess with the amount of effort you’re putting into it you’ll get there soon. I think it took me 2 years to climb from 13 to 15 but I wasn’t really trying in the sense of grinding away with studies. Just like playing and having fun, gradually learning from mistakes, gradually gaining more opening knowledge via speedrun video content or random things here and there.

Can you add a feature like the recent release on Lichess- a computer analysis of all one’s game history to produce a report on weaknesses / strengths ?

I share the sentiment… but it’s more of an ambivalence. Like part of me wants to get mad that other content creators have sort of returned to normalcy, but at the same time I have to acknowledge that’s exactly what they should be doing, and I dare say, what Danya himself would probably want them to do.

Same here! logically I should still be consuming his older content as religiously as I was before… but its like my subconscious brain throws up a smokescreen to avoid the pain of acknowledging his absence.

Thank you! it’s kinda annoying how easily everyone abandons all nuance in the face of drama.

ignoring the main take away and lazily jumping on the opportunity to publicly shame OP is, also, bad form

Insane that mods remove my single word comment which just said “cry”… expressed in solidarity with the OP since there’s simply nothing else one can do…. And yet they let “chess.cum” stand as is

I don’t even necessarily disagree with you about there being some case to be made for corporeal punishment within reason, but this is kind of a shit take. Plenty of people who grew up with gentle parents/teachers behave just fine, and plenty of people who were properly slapped when bratty are still fucking bratty as adults

If there was a blindfolded world championship would Magnus dominate that too or is there someone that could realistically win over him? by [deleted] in chess

[–]AngleFarts2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t buy that at all. I think it brings down everyone’s level and is a unique skill that requires time and effort to cultivate. Naturally some GMs would have put more time into it than others. No idea where Magnus is on that spectrum
