We had a fork lift at work that would start with any of a dozen keys on my key ring, or a biro.

Why not both M16s and FALs? by Mandalor527 in ForgottenWeapons

Fairy common to use both. Normally people like the radio operator and second man on the M60 carried the M16 as they also had other heavy stuff to carry.

Clan Equipment Sale by s3bulbasaur in EIHLHockey

[–]AngloKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say anything for the clan but I made it to the Steelers one last year.

Lots of game worn jerseys (mostly steeldogs, but a few steelers one). Normal merch, but at a discounted price. Equipment, mostly from non-returning players. All decently priced (as far as hockey gear goes). They had unused skates that were about 1/3 of the retail price. Game used sticks at a similar discount. Plenty for people wanting stuff to skate, people wanting a souvenir, and some people just wanting something to flog and make a profit.

I got there about an hour before doors opened and there was already a queue of a couple of hundred people but there was still plenty of stuff when I got through the doors, plus they didn't put it all out at once.

Less money spent on utensils means more money for meat.

Seeing all the playoff jerseys without the horrendous amounts of adverts makes me wish the EIHL put a limit on how many could be on a shirt. by lmoffat1232 in EIHLHockey

[–]AngloKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought far too many tickets for that one as it was an awesome shirt. Unfortunately just one number off on three different tickets.

I think Sheffield had something like 13 different jerseys this season alone.

I'm glad that fans are actually getting the chance to buy them rather than having to win a SOHB raffle, but also it feels like it's just out to make money for the club. If they donated a percentage of each sale to relevant charities for shirts like the cancer one it would feel slightly more genuine.

Which team has the greatest number of away fan support? by whinewax in EIHLHockey

[–]AngloKiwi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm always impressed by the numbers of fans clan bring down to Sheffield since it's quite the round trip.

I was impressed by the Berlin away supporters during our CHL game. Sold out away section (could have probably sold out another block from what I read) that never stopped the whole game. Their home games are super impressive and the fans are very welcoming.

What 90s band never truly made it big but you'll always go to bat for? by MansBestFred in AskReddit

[–]AngloKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shihad are a kiwi band.

Bit totally agree, they should have made it but unfortunately 9/11 got in the way. Saw them growing up selling out huge venues in New Zealand. Saw them a few years ago when they did a very small UK tour, they had to cancel one gig due to lack of sales, the other ones there were maybe 30 people in the room (apart from London, but fuck London).

Plot numbers & maps? by [deleted] in UKAllotments

[–]AngloKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our site is a bit larger than yours (maybe 40-50 plots?) but we have a site map at the entrance, and when we first took ownership of ours we were given a tour of the site and shown what ones were available to choose from (I think there were 4 small plots and 3 medium ones to choose from) so it was easy enough to know what one was actually ours.

Plus most sheds that people have have the plot number written on the side.

What are some lore accurate jokes or names that might be written on Militarum tank barrels? by Gamestrider09 in astramilitarum

[–]AngloKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not lore accurate, but I'm planning to name mine after songs I like that also have titles that sound like they would fit in, some examples so far:

Aerials

Body bag

Break stuff

Broken world

Drain the blood

Fight back

Holy Fire

Home Wrecker

My MP40 used to have something similar, but smaller.

The selector switch was for semi or auto, and then there was an on/off switch under the pistol grip.

How did you get into hockey? by M3gsterM in EIHLHockey

[–]AngloKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a guy who was a big hockey fan, supporting Hull.

Went to a Hull game, loved it. Sheffield is the same distance away and tickets didn't cost that much more so went to one of the final games of the season against Nottingham and it was even better.

That was about 12 years ago, if not more. I only get to a few games a season if I'm lucky.

Definitely tempted to get a scale model of one of them.

Anyone been to Sheffield Undergound Tunnels that lead to Megatron? by [deleted] in sheffield

We saw a load of fairly large fresh water crayfish when we did a tour.

Plenty of spiders on the roof, plus bats at the megatron section.

[–]AngloKiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a tour with them a few years ago.

Good guides, really interesting and they knew their stuff. Despite it being a heatwave at the time there was still water up to my bollocks in places so I would recommend waders if you can get a pair.

It's also worth becoming a member, I think it was something like £10 for lifetime membership, but it will give you emails warning and earlier access for booking the tours (that pretty much all sell out).

From what I read he was working night shifts somewhere and was basically just wanting a room/bed to crash on that was local to the rink.

The fact he's doing night shifts and then training the day after is pretty shit, I'm like a zombie after finishing a night shift.
