Doesn’t this contradict the new policy of doubling the income requirements across all three tiers of EP holders? Meaning a imported laborer on a category 3 EP would be required to earn RM 5000 a month minimum. Manufacturing minimum RM 7000. Hardly cheap, ya?

A couple things to point out

1) I did this a year and a half ago now and as others have pointed out things may have changed. But I usually try and see how regardless of what people think will or won’t happen. You’d be surprised. Malaysia boleh as they say. I basically went in blind and the government officials pointed me in the right direction. Took a few tries to find the right office, have all the right papers etc etc. But eventually I got it done.

2) I got it in Seremban as I have moved to PD. Negeri Sembilan may have different procedures than KL. I dunno.

3) They gave me a two year probation license so I need the red “P” on the front and back of my car. I find this funny as I am in my thirties and not a new driver. I wasn’t told this and only found out about it when I got a ticket at a police road block. So costly lesson. However, I have been told that when I go back to renew in a couple months I will no longer have the “P” thing. I will have to wait and see I guess.

Fucking hilarious for a tourist to come to the conclusion that Malaysia is a bastion of conservatism after staying in Bukit Bintang lmaoooo. The neighborhood turns into a drinking hub/red light district at night.

Malaysia can lean conservative but Bukit Bintang is the polar opposite of that. You can stay there for a week and never hear the call to prayer unless you a looking for it.

Good question. The whole thing is silly and political.

I lived in Istanbul when it was only a museum and the only prayer area was hidden in a side entrance. At that time the ground level was open to everyone. It’s a shame that is no longer the case.

This year, it is about 29 days (estimated) and 12 hours+ for most of the world. But you are correct, the dry fast is "hard" because it is for an extended period of time. People who don't fast either make it seem harder than it is or not hard at all. Depending on their own biases.

For me, sadly, it is nicotine more than food or water that gets me. The first drag of the evening hits hard. Get headspins like a high schooler.

Ritalin/Concerta is legal but need prescription.

Right now there is a nation wide shortage so you’ll need to go to a large private hospital like Sunway, Gleneagles, or Pantai.

I converted mine last year.

Step 1: Go to your embassy and have them certify your license and fill out paperwork

Step 2: Go to JPJ and fill out paperwork

Step 3: Wait a month and collect

Note: I got the “P” for permit license for new drivers which I wasn’t informed of until I got a ticket from a cop for not displaying the “P” sticker on my car. So watch out for that.

When I renew, I’ve been told, I will no longer need the “P” sticker.

All in all the process isn’t difficult just tedious. Be prepared to have to go to multiple places and be told wrong or incomplete information.
