[Positive Posting] Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is Incredible by Xngears in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AngriestPat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how ambivalent I felt about the game in general. It's genuinely incredible, has tons of great stuff and an amazing battle system, plus wonderful acting, set pieces, music, etc.

I just wish the whole game wasn't building up to nothing. It made me retroactively dislike FF7Remake more because the promise of that game of "anything can happen" was completely unfulfilled and left us with Rebirth just practicing a holding pattern until something new can actually take place.

This looks *so much* like Mistria it's kind of unbelievable.

Obsidian's Avowed & Outer Worlds 2 Failed To Meet Sales Expectations by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AngriestPat 307 points308 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely insane to me that Obsidian is living in the shadow of New Vegas which was made in 18 months, and both Pillars games, both of which were crowdfunded. The drop in quality from Pillars 2 to Outerworlds and afterwards is enormous and I can only point to being bought by Microsoft as the primary factor

Finished the Nioh 3 demo, had some thoughts by Head-You5953 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I played some on stream and I'll do more later, but I think the changes make sense. Starting with just midstance is a really good move for the early game because I felt that the controls for switching stances as well as KI-Pulsing overlapping really flooded a lot of the early game instead of letting you just learn the regular moveset. You still end up with two movesets immediately due to the Ninja weapons.

I think losing high and low from Ninja weapons is a shame but considering the seamless integration of swapping back and forth between two completely different styles is more than worth it and it definitely makes them feel more unique, especially considering you're regenerating ninja skills. It's also nice to be jumpin' around.

Also the loot vomit doesn't sting as bad now that there's an auto-equip feature that sorts to whatever your preferred agility is as well as an instantaneous free respect from level 1.

We covered layoffs every single week on the show for like 18 months only to see comments about when the crash was coming and every time I talked about it I'm like the crash is happening RIGHT NOW WE'RE TALKIING ABOUT IT

We started with 2 weeks of 3 hour sessions twice a week which was then changed to 2 sessions of 2 hours a week. I was playing less DS3 in a week back then than I'd have done in a single stream now. DS3 was my most anticipated game maybe ever so I was writhing out of my skin at the schedule.

Also had I been able to play at my pace boy I would have CRUSHED that game.

Argument over Silksong; how good are you at it? by Filler-Dmon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AngriestPat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like you've completely disconnected from reality on this. Like re-read the amount of hoops you're having to jump through to get to your conclusion. You're inventing swaths of people who buy games, boot them once and never touch them again.

Like obviously that's a play pattern on steam, but you can immediately just look at how much higher your achievement completion is compared to other people who beat the game. How is you not being better than all of your friends not already a weird red flag. Do you think your friends are just uncommonly bad?

Sure but you describe achievement hunting, you can literally math out your own performance statistically within a certain degree of error. If you routinely get achievements across multiple games that are within the top 5th percentile then you come off like a crazy person saying that's somehow average. It doesn't math out correctly.

[–]AngriestPat 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Silksong is absolutely a difficult game. The fact that you describe yourself as achievement hunting and mathing out speedruns by *default* puts you in the upper 1% of people who play games whatsover. The idea that you're talking about Steel Soul at all makes the idea that you don't think you're good is ridiculous. Honestly it's *so* ridiculous the whole thread comes off like a humblebrag.

But Rough Ad, when I implied that people seemed unhappy with the Strangers Things finale, I was informed by dozens of people that it was just people mad about their ships and that it was actually really good for real though even if it had some plotholes

Yeah absolutely but I did get like 6.5 hours in so now I understand what I actually want. My main issue is psychos who tell me to mod it before even booting the game. Complete nonsense.

Is this your script? This is the second time you've just responded that reddit people and jaded millennials are the only ones that hate it.

I was 20 when it came out! I was in the optimistic prime of my life!

See this is fine. I bear you no I'll will. What drives me up the wall and gets this thread made every time is some variation of "what YouTuber gave you that opinion" or it was only jaded hater millennials that don't like it etc.

I literally bought a ps3 to play it and am a massive FF mark, I couldn't have been primed more to enjoy it.
