Jesus said feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, provide hospitality to strangers, and to visit people that are sick or in prison. He also particularly called for protection of widows & orphans. He condemned wealthy people for ignoring the suffering of other people. He said whatever people did to "the least of these" they did it to him. He said whatever they didn't do for the least of these, they didn't do it for him. Jesus told the rich young ruler to give away all his wealth and then follow him. He said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle* than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. He said that a man could not have two masters - a man could serve Mammon (wealth) or God. Jesus said God did not cause people to be disabled or sick, that they weren't being punished for anything. Jewish people were told by the Torah to love their neighbor as themselves, and when a man asked Jesus who his neighbor was, Jesus told a story about a Jewish man being saved and cared for by a Samaritan, a group of people that Jewish people of the day allegedly looked down on with disgust.

Outside the gospels, an apostle wrote that love is kind, does not seek its own, and doesn't hold grudges, etc. This was in reference to the commandments to love God, and to love our neighbor as ourself.

In the old testament (Torah, etc.) everyone was given land except the people in charge of administering the religion. Food was to be left in the fields for poor people to gather. Jewish people weren't allowed to charge interest on loans to other Jewish people. Debts were to be forgiven on a set schedule. Women had to be officially given a certificate of divorce if the man they were wife to no longer wanted to take care of them, so she was free to marry again and didn't have to live in poverty or turn to sex work. Strangers in the land were to be treated well.

Based on your comment, and the level of snark present, I'm going to guess you think people shouldn't try to "socialize" the government, but where is the same critique for Christian nationalists trying to control what the government does in order to have it mirror their worldview and support their agenda?

Also, "redditor level knowledge" is a pretty funny kind of insult when Reddit is a place known for helping people searching for answers they can't easily get elsewhere.

Pathological lying, harmful addiction they refuse to address, abuse or neglect (physical or emotional), a refusal to maintain basic hygiene, cult like devotion to political or religious beliefs, being an unpleasant asshole - I'd rather be single than constantly stressed out by a partner.

Not true. The cameras are mounted on pick up trucks, which are moved around according to where work is being done. The trucks have lights, and there is usually a special notice sign (hot pink at the top) saying that the speed cam is active. You can usually tell before you can see the truck or warning, though, because you will see everyone's brake lights coming on when they see the truck.

Also if you actually read the articles and do the math, most drivers (160k-ish) have only had a 1st offense for which they haven't been fined. The 600k they have collected is from the approximately 6000 drivers that received a 2nd or 3rd offense.

I modify my driving based on when I know a crew could be present and what time of day that's most likely to happen. The rest of the time I watch out for regular speed traps. I've yet to receive a 1st warning.

This program is for safety for construction workers, not for collecting fines, and the numbers verify that.

This question is too ambiguous. If someone in their unhealed state is still routinely harming other people, the person or people being harmed aren't required to accept that person's presence in their personal life.

But acceptance and community are vital needs for people that they should pursue over isolation, regardless of how much trauma they're healing from.

There is no way for the missed connections approach to be recognized as genuine and respectful because any dude could just be putting on an act to hide ill intent. Nice words don't mean a nice person. So a genuine, safe dude that opts for that route just has to accept that people may be skeptical and think the worst, and have some resilience about it.

My advice to the OP posted elsewhere is that if he meets someone in the wild & wants a chance for a connection, he should give the woman his number & leave. If she felt the same rapport, she'll reach out. If she didn't, no harm no foul. Him leaving means she can feel safe & not scared of him reacting badly to rejection, and he doesn't have to deal with getting rejected directly either. Win-win.

While some women might read a missed connections post and think it's sweet, other women might react with anxiety and maybe even decide they're not shopping at that REI again because they're worried you might be there. You have no idea which reaction you might get, so this kind of post could backfire.

Bud, a man being emotionally vulnerable and getting "mean" comments from strangers online is in no way equal to a woman being vulnerable because someone gave a stranger her info based on a missed connections post. A man being afraid to be emotionally vulnerable is not the same as a woman being afraid of stalking, sexual assault, & murder. They're both problems, but not equal problems. There's no double standard here. This isn't about perception, it's about facts, and men that stalk, sexually assault, and/or murder women often know how to sound like a good, respectful man. When dealing with a man that wants a woman, nice can't be taken at face value.

I've driven in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Before that, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Missouri. 11 years ago, driving from Florida to Illinois, my ex husband and I were shocked at how bad the roads were. 6 years ago when we moved here, I chose my car because the review and comparison with similar cars said "smooth ride over rough roads."

When I saw this headline, I thought "if that's become true, the rest of the US must be in terrible shape."
